Francis Jardine-Deuss’s correspondence documents later contact with Jeffrey Epstein and discussion of their past personal relationship. In June 2013, Epstein said he wished they had stayed together.

Contemporary reporting identifies Francis Jardine as the woman who married John Deuss in the Netherlands on June 15, 1999. Later reporting identifies Jardine as a former model who knew Epstein in New York in 1994. The travel records, testimony and signed correspondence examined below document the relationship across different periods.

Identity and Public Background

The Royal Gazette’s marriage notice was published on June 23, 1999. It reports the marriage eight days earlier and identifies John Deuss as a Dutch oil trader and banker. The date embedded in the modern webpage address does not change the article’s original publication date. The notice establishes that marriage; it does not establish the couple’s current marital status or give Francis a business role in Deuss’s companies.

McLean Hospital’s 2010 annual report lists “Francis Jardine Deuss” on its National Council. The report describes the council’s members as ambassadors and supporters of the institution. This is a documented historical public affiliation, not evidence that she was a hospital employee, trustee or current council member.

The January 2022 account in YourTango, crediting an interview reported by the Daily Mail, explicitly connects Francis Jardine with the later married name, printed there as “Francis Jardine-Deuess.” It says she met Epstein while modeling in New York in 1994. That occupational background is reported biography, rather than independently inspected employment or modeling records.

Business Insider’s public contact book index lists Francis Jardine and points to page 17 of Epstein’s older address book. The scanned page was not independently inspected here, so this is a verified publisher transcription rather than a separately checked original entry.

The different spellings are important when comparing records. The later emails consistently use Francis, while the pilot records and Maxwell trial transcript include Frances. A first name alone cannot establish identity, particularly when the wider aviation records contain other people with similar names.

The 1994 Flight Record

The original pilot log, introduced in United States v. Maxwell as Exhibit 662 RR, contains surname bearing Jardine entries across several pages in 1994. Ten surname bearing flight legs were verified on pages 29, 30 and 32. The table preserves their dates and airport codes. Each row is one flight leg, not a separate trip or proof of a visit to a particular residence.

DateRoute in the logFlight numberLog page

October 1, 1994SAF to ASE59130
October 10, 1994PBI to TEB59630
December 10, 1994TEB to PBI62832

The airport codes refer to Chicago Midway, Aspen, Traverse City, Palm Beach, Teterboro, Washington National, Denver and Santa Fe. The given name is written Frances; the surname appears as Jardine or Jardin. The December entry is on page 32 of the log.

The aircraft columns identify the type as G1159B and the registration as N908JE, with ditto marks used on subsequent rows.

The October 31 entry lists only the given name Frances alongside JE and Rupert. Although a secondary index assigns that entry to Jardine-Deuss, it is not counted here as a surname bearing Jardine record. The same caution applies to other first name only entries.

EpsteinWiki’s guide to Exhibit 662 RR provides broader context for reading the underlying logs. A passenger entry supports recorded travel. It does not establish the purpose of a journey, what happened after landing or a passenger’s knowledge of crimes.

What the Trial Witnesses Remembered

David Rodgers’s trial testimony, at printed page 1933, confirms the August 1994 entries involving Epstein, Sophie Biddle and a person rendered in the transcript as Frances Jardine. Rodgers said he did not remember who Jardine was and did not remember her as Epstein’s girlfriend. The log and the pilot’s later memory therefore provide different kinds of evidence.

Eva Andersson-Dubin’s testimony, at printed page 2655, is more specific about the relationship. She remembered Frances, said she had not known her surname was Jardine, and agreed that Epstein was dating her in 1994. She did not remember the particular Washington trip counsel was showing her. Inner City Press’s contemporaneous courtroom report also records that exchange.

The testimony supports the description of an earlier romantic relationship, without providing a complete chronology.

The Reported White House Visit

The January 2022 reporting says Francis Jardine and Eva Andersson-Dubin accompanied Epstein on a White House visit on September 26, 1994. The underlying visitor log for Jardine’s entry was not independently inspected for this article, so that specific visit remains an attributed report here.

The flight log for September 26 independently records travel involving the Washington airport code DCA. That is corroboration of travel to Washington, not proof of entry into the White House or a meeting with Bill Clinton. The White House’s own press record places Clinton at the United Nations in New York that morning. The travel and visitor claims should not be converted into a presidential meeting without evidence of one. EpsteinWiki’s Clinton profile discusses the wider distinction between White House access and a documented presidential meeting.

Renewed Contact in 2009

An August 14, 2009 email shows Jardine-Deuss reaching out after a period without contact. She said she was in the United States, recalled seeing Epstein previously in Boston and hoped to see him again. A second message that day thanked him for their conversation and discussed a possible visit later in the year.

The October 8 exchange is explicit about her awareness of restrictions on Epstein’s movements: she asked how long he would remain under house arrest and whether he could receive visitors. Epstein encouraged an earlier visit. She replied that she would try to arrange a few days in early November. These are communications about prospective travel; the emails alone do not establish that the visit occurred.

Her Reaction to the Prosecution in 2010

The March 19, 2010 correspondence preserves a notably mixed response to learning more about Epstein’s prosecution. Jardine-Deuss said she had searched for information about him and was disturbed by some of the accounts she read. She also expressed affection and appreciation for aspects of their earlier relationship, while telling him that her time with him had affected later relationships.

The message should be read in full rather than reduced to either a declaration of support or a specific criminal allegation. It records what she said she had learned and how she described its effect on her. It does not establish when she first knew any particular underlying fact about Epstein’s conduct.

The surrounding email chain shows the two arranging a Skype conversation. Several released files reproduce the same original message with additional replies. Those repeated copies are not separate revelations or evidence of separate meetings.

The July 23 and 24 exchange also demonstrates why invitations must be separated from completed travel. Epstein invited her to visit Paris. She replied that her visa situation prevented her from accepting on that occasion and suggested another time. It would be inaccurate to cite this exchange as proof that she visited him in Paris.

Skype Records in 2011

The device extraction in EFTA00506537 contains Skype entries under the name Francis jardine-deuss dated December 16, 2011. Three entries have nonzero recorded durations, while several outgoing attempts are marked cancelled with zero duration.

These are records of communication activity, not transcripts of conversations. They show activity under that contact name, while providing no basis to describe what was discussed. Counting every attempted call as a completed conversation would overstate the record.

The 2013 Relationship and Assistant Correspondence

The June 9, 2013 exchange directly addresses their past. Jardine-Deuss asked Epstein about their earlier relationship and whether anything remained out of balance. Epstein replied that he held her in high regard and wished they had stayed together. That reply is evidence from Epstein himself of a prior close relationship.

The separate job description exchange that day concerns an assistant Epstein wanted. Jardine-Deuss asked what the job involved. Epstein described someone in their twenties who could travel, organize his travel and business schedule, and be poised and presentable. He compared those qualities with hers in the past. She responded conditionally that she would let him know if she encountered someone suitable.

The exchange documents a request and an offer to pass along a possible candidate. It does not identify a candidate, show an introduction, establish a completed hire or demonstrate a payment. The described age range is adult. Nothing in this exchange establishes recruitment for sexual activity or trafficking, and the phrase about her past qualities does not by itself establish a formal employment history.

The June 30 “Apologies” chain shows Jardine-Deuss asking for advice, including legal help, from people who had played important roles in her life. She asked whether his advice would involve a cost. Epstein asked when he should call, and she responded with her availability. The exchange does not identify a retained lawyer, an agreed fee or a completed financial transaction.

The December 2016 Recollection

The December 21 through 23, 2016 chain shows renewed friendly contact after another gap. Jardine-Deuss said she was working on a biography and thanked Epstein for experiences she associated with their earlier time together. She recalled wearing his Secret Service sweats and hitching rides with someone she called Donald about twenty years earlier. Epstein referred to a photograph of her with Donald and Sophie.

The document contains those recollections and a reference to a photograph. It does not include the photograph, give the two other people’s surnames, establish the precise dates or circumstances of the rides, or show that a biography was completed or published. Those details require separate corroboration. The email does establish that contact under the full Jardine-Deuss name continued into December 2016.

Her Reported Public Response

YourTango’s January 18, 2022 article reproduced statements attributed to Jardine in the Daily Mail. It reported that she viewed Epstein as having encouraged her skills and choices, and quoted her expressing affection and grief about how his life had ended.

The original Daily Mail interview was not independently available for review. These statements are therefore presented as an attributed secondary account. They are not a verified response to the later EFTA document releases, and they do not resolve the mixed feelings recorded in her earlier private correspondence.

Duplicate releases are visible in the records themselves: EFTA02428924 reproduces the March 19, 2010 message chain also found in EFTA00762820. EFTA02428955 similarly reproduces the chain in EFTA00762823. A corpus’s document count can therefore be much larger than its number of distinct conversations.

The reviewed material establishes a personal connection with renewed contact across different periods. It does not establish that Jardine-Deuss participated in Epstein’s criminal conduct. Neither a relationship nor continued correspondence can substitute for evidence of a particular act.

Scope of the Available Record

This article is based on the specific records cited, not a claim that every mention of Jardine-Deuss in every release has been located or reviewed. Some original source material could not be inspected, including the visitor log underlying the White House report and the full original 2022 interview. The trial passages were checked against publicly indexed official transcript text and contemporary courtroom reporting; the transcript page images were not inspected. Those limitations are attached to the relevant claims.

The public Yahoo email tranche released through DDoSecrets is a different source collection from the DOJ’s EFTA production. No separately verified Jardine-Deuss item from that tranche is relied on here. An EFTA email should not be relabeled as a Yahoo leak merely because both collections concern Epstein.

Open Questions

  1. Can the original September 26, 1994 visitor record establish the precise White House access arranged for Jardine and identify the person she was scheduled to meet?
  2. Did the June 2013 assistant discussion lead to any identifiable introduction or employment arrangement?
  3. Can an authenticated photograph or contemporaneous travel record corroborate the December 2016 recollection without relying on first names alone?
  4. Are there additional distinct messages that materially change the chronology, rather than duplicate chains already released?
