Jmail: A Searchable Inbox for Jeffrey Epstein’s Released Emails and Documents
Jmail is an interactive public archive that presents Jeffrey Epstein’s released emails through an interface modeled on Gmail.
The project was created by technologists Riley Walz and Luke Igel after the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released thousands of Epstein related records in November 2025.
Instead of forcing researchers to search individual PDF files, Jmail reconstructs the material as an inbox. Users can search messages, browse correspondents, filter accounts, open original email data, examine attachments, and move between related tools covering documents, photographs, flights, text messages, purchases, calendars, music, and people.
Jmail has become one of the most accessible gateways into the Epstein files. Its familiar design is also capable of creating a false sense of completeness. The interface reconstructs an archive from released records. It is not a live copy of Epstein’s original email account, and it does not contain every message he ever sent or received.

What Is Jmail?
Jmail converts publicly released Epstein records into an email interface that resembles an ordinary inbox.
The homepage tells users they are “logged in” as Jeffrey Epstein. This is a design device. No one has gained access to an active account. The emails were extracted from documents released by congressional investigators, the Justice Department, courts, and other public sources.
The familiar inbox structure makes the records easier to navigate. Readers can recognize senders, recipients, dates, subject lines, attachments, forwarded chains, and repeated conversations without manually reconstructing those details from PDF pages.
At the time of review, the primary House Oversight inbox displayed 7,499 indexed records. That number applies to the selected account or release view shown by the interface. It should not be treated as the total number of emails in every Jmail dataset or the complete historical contents of Epstein’s accounts.
Who Created Jmail?
Jmail was created by Riley Walz and Luke Igel.
Walz is a software developer and internet artist known for turning difficult public datasets into accessible and sometimes satirical interfaces.
Igel is a technologist and cofounder of Kino AI. He has discussed Jmail publicly as a tool for making a sprawling document release understandable to ordinary readers.
The first version reportedly took approximately five hours to build. What began as a rapid interface for one congressional release later expanded into a large collection of connected research tools.
Additional developers and contributors have worked on specific parts of the project. Publicly named contributors include Diego Rodriguez, Cora Kyler, Melissa Du, Ricardo de Arruda, Aidan Dunlap, Advait Paliwal, Molly Cantillon, Will Depue, Jason Liu, Jinglin Li, and a contributor identified as Watcher.
The project has also worked with Drop Site News to add and review material.
How Jmail Was Created
The released Epstein emails were scattered across PDF files, text files, court exhibits, attachments, and government data sets.
Jmail used document processing and optical character recognition to extract text and convert the files into structured email records.
The resulting data includes fields for sender, recipients, copied recipients, blind copied recipients, subject line, date, source account, source identifier, body text, HTML content, and attachment count.
The records are then displayed in an interface modeled on Gmail.
This process improves accessibility, but it involves several transformations. Text must be extracted. Headers must be identified. Threads must be grouped. Senders and recipients must be parsed. Dates must be normalized. Attachments must be connected.
Each transformation creates opportunities for errors. The original document should always be consulted when a detail matters.
Searching the Inbox
Jmail provides several ways to find material.
Users can enter a word, name, email address, phrase, company, location, or subject into the main search field.
The search interface allows users to look for messages from a particular person or sent to a particular person.
The People menu provides direct access to frequently searched names. The visible directory includes political figures, academics, bankers, attorneys, scientists, business executives, assistants, household staff, and other people appearing in the archive.
Users can also browse by date, account, release collection, topic, or a randomly selected page.
These tools are valuable because a single search term can reveal correspondence spread across different files and years.
Search results still require interpretation. A name may appear because it was mentioned in an article or forwarded message. It does not necessarily mean that person communicated with Epstein.
Topic Collections
Jmail includes curated topic filters that direct readers toward recurring themes in the archive.
Visible categories include asking for advice, introductions, damage control, and communications involving Jean Luc Brunel.
Topic labels help new researchers locate significant material. They are also editorial classifications.
A message placed in a category reflects the project’s interpretation of its content. Researchers should read the complete email before adopting the category as a factual description.
The category involving Brunel is particularly sensitive because documents concerning modeling, recruitment, and travel can include allegations of serious criminal conduct.

Viewing Original Email Data
Individual Jmail records can include access to the original email source.
The email source may display the subject, sender, sender address, recipients, date, body, formatting, and other technical information.
This is one of Jmail’s strongest research features. It allows users to move beyond the visual reconstruction and inspect the data used to create it.
A source view is still not identical to examining the original government PDF. It may represent an extracted email file or reconstructed record. When precise language, authentication, or page context matters, researchers should also locate the government document.
Jmail’s source identifiers and original filenames can help locate the corresponding record in Epstein Data or the Justice Department archive.
Jmail’s Public Research Dataset
Jmail provides public access to structured research data through its Data API documentation.

The email dataset contains structured fields for senders, recipients, copied recipients, blind copied recipients, dates, account information, source identifiers, and message content.

Researchers can download data in formats designed for large scale analysis. This allows data scientists and journalists to create timelines, correspondence networks, frequency counts, and independent research tools.
The structured dataset is public. The website’s complete application code was not confirmed as fully open source at the time of review.
The Difference Between Emails and Documents
Jmail distinguishes between extracted emails and the broader document archive.
An email record represents a message identified within a released file.
A document may contain an email, court filing, bank record, report, photograph, handwritten note, legal exhibit, or another type of material.
The distinction matters because several emails may come from the same document. The same email may also appear in more than one government release.
Researchers should avoid counting every extracted record as a unique communication without checking for duplicate copies, quoted chains, forwarded messages, and repeated exhibits.
Jemini Artificial Intelligence Search
Jmail includes an artificial intelligence research assistant called Jemini.
Jemini allows users to ask questions about the archive instead of relying only on exact keyword searches. This can help locate records when a researcher does not know the precise spelling, subject line, or document number.
The interface warns that Jemini can make mistakes and tells users to verify its answers.
Artificial intelligence can summarize the wrong document, merge people with similar names, misread a date, confuse an allegation with a finding, or invent a connection not established by the evidence.
A Jemini response should be treated as a list of possible leads. It should never be cited as evidence.
The researcher must open the supporting emails and original documents before relying on the answer.

These tools use familiar interfaces to make different evidence types easier to explore. Each one transforms the underlying material and must be checked against the original source.
Email Volume Does Not Equal Relationship Strength
Jmail allows users to browse records connected to particular people.
A large number of search results can indicate extensive correspondence. It can also reflect copied messages, newsletter subscriptions, quoted threads, duplicated records, attachments, or third party mentions.
Researchers should determine whether the person:
- Sent the message
- Received the message
- Was copied on the message
- Was mentioned in the message
- Appeared in an attached article
- Appeared only in quoted text
- Was matched through an alias
- Was the actual person using the email account
A high email count is a reason to investigate. It is not proof of a close relationship or criminal conduct.
Emails Received After Epstein’s Death
Some records associated with Epstein’s email addresses are dated after his death on August 10, 2019.
This does not mean Epstein sent or read them.
An email address can continue receiving automated newsletters, commercial promotions, political messages, account notifications, or unsolicited communications after its owner dies.
Other people may also know the address and deliberately subscribe it to lists or send provocative messages.
These records can be authentic messages delivered to an address connected to Epstein while having no evidentiary value concerning Epstein’s actions.
Researchers must distinguish the date a message arrived from the question of whether Epstein was alive, had access to the account, read the message, or responded.
The Inbox Is Not Necessarily Complete
Jmail presents a convincing inbox, but it represents only released records.
Missing material may include deleted messages, unrecovered devices, encrypted records, accounts not obtained by investigators, communications withheld by the estate, documents withheld by the government, privileged material, records removed to protect survivors, and files lost before collection.
The archive may also contain only one side of a conversation.
An apparent gap does not prove that no communication occurred. A complete looking thread does not prove that every message was preserved.
Jmail should be described as a reconstructed archive of released communications, not Epstein’s complete inbox.
Attachments and Missing Context
An email can be impossible to interpret without its attachment.
The body may say only “see attached,” “thoughts,” “call me,” or “please review.” Without the referenced photograph, document, spreadsheet, or forwarded message, the purpose remains unclear.
Jmail may identify the number of attachments even when the attachment is unavailable or stored elsewhere.
Researchers should search JDrive, JPhotos, related EFTA records, and surrounding emails before reaching a conclusion about an incomplete message.
If the attachment cannot be found, the limitation should be stated.
Optical Character Recognition Errors
Many source documents were scanned or converted into images before release.
Optical character recognition can confuse letters, numbers, punctuation, symbols, and spacing. It may incorrectly read email addresses, names, dates, monetary amounts, and telephone numbers.
The reconstructed email can appear clean even when the source scan is ambiguous.
Researchers should compare important quotations with the original page image. This is especially important when one character changes the meaning of a name, age, date, amount, or email address.

Names, Aliases, and Identity Matching
Epstein and his contacts used personal addresses, business addresses, shared accounts, assistants, abbreviations, and aliases.
Jmail may group several email addresses under one person. This can be helpful when the match is correct.
It can also combine different people or assign a shared account to the wrong user.
The label “Jeffrey Epstein alias” demonstrates that the archive sometimes distinguishes between Epstein’s recognized identity and addresses believed to represent him.
Identity matching should be confirmed through signatures, message content, account records, metadata, replies, and independent evidence.

Survivor Privacy and Ethical Research
The Epstein files contain sensitive information concerning survivors, witnesses, employees, family members, and private individuals.
A name appearing in a released email does not automatically make publication ethical.
Researchers should not republish private survivor information, medical records, telephone numbers, addresses, account details, or images exposing people who have not publicly identified themselves.
Artificial intelligence searches and automated entity extraction can amplify a government redaction error. Researchers remain responsible for what they publish.
EpsteinWiki follows a survivor centered evidence standard. Transparency must not become another mechanism for exposing or harming the people Epstein abused.
A Name in Jmail Does Not Prove Wrongdoing
Jmail’s contact directory includes people with radically different relationships to Epstein.
Some were employees. Some were advisers. Some were social acquaintances. Some were public figures discussed by others. Some were journalists. Some were survivors. Some may appear only in forwarded news articles or copied messages.
A person’s presence in Jmail does not prove that the person:
- Met Epstein
- Communicated directly with Epstein
- Knew about his crimes
- Participated in his crimes
- Visited one of his properties
- Traveled on his aircraft
- Approved of his conduct
- Committed any offense
Published research must distinguish documentary presence from documented conduct.
How Researchers Should Use Jmail
Begin with a narrow search term such as a full name, company, email address, date, property, bank, or document identifier.
Open the complete message and inspect the sender, recipients, copied recipients, date, subject, body, attachments, and quoted material.
Check whether the email is original, forwarded, duplicated, or embedded in a later record.
Use the original source or email data view to identify the government filename.
Locate the corresponding record through Epstein Data or the original government release.
Compare the email with related court filings, testimony, corporate records, flight logs, bank records, and surrounding communications.
When publishing, cite the original evidence and credit Jmail when its search or organization materially assisted the research.

Jmail solved a problem government agencies repeatedly failed to solve for the public.
The records may have been released, but their format made serious research unnecessarily difficult. Jmail transformed scattered files into something searchable, recognizable, and usable.
Its inbox design reveals the ordinary machinery of Epstein’s world. Invitations, introductions, financial instructions, travel arrangements, reputation management, academic discussions, staffing requests, and social chatter appear beside records with much greater investigative significance.
That mixture is important. Large criminal and influence networks do not operate only through dramatic messages. They also depend on routine administration, personal access, professional favors, and thousands of ordinary communications.
Jmail makes that system visible. Researchers must still separate the routine, the suspicious, the alleged, and the proven.
