Margherita Campello della Spina

Margherita Campello della Spina is an Italian member of the extended Agnelli family whose documented relationship with Jeffrey Epstein included direct personal correspondence, repeated travel arranged or paid for by Epstein’s staff, stays in Epstein controlled residences, educational support, gifts, and possible payments from an Epstein controlled company. The surviving record spans 2013 to 2019 and shows a sustained, materially supported association after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Key Takeaways

  1. Campello della Spina was not merely named in an address book or social list. Emails show direct exchanges with Epstein and repeated coordination through his assistants over several years.
  2. Epstein’s operation paid for or arranged transportation and lodging for her. The files also record that Epstein paid for school, approved a dentist appointment, and sent her an iPhone X.
  3. She stayed in apartments controlled by Epstein’s household and was scheduled to move from one apartment into a guest room at his East 71st Street residence.
  4. Their exchanges were personal and familiar. They discussed seeing one another, travel, her internship and classes, her employment, relationships, and summer plans.
  5. A January 2020 United Kingdom National Crime Agency intelligence report identified twelve transfers from Epstein controlled LSJE LLC to five accounts between June 2017 and April 2019. One account holder appears in the released text only as “DELLA SPINA.” Redactions and extraction defects prevent a conclusive public attribution of that account, or any particular amount, to Margherita Campello della Spina.
  6. None of the located records establishes that she knew of, facilitated, or participated in Epstein’s sexual abuse or trafficking. No located public record identifies her as a victim either. Both limits matter.

Identity and Family Background

Genealogical sources identify Margherita Campello della Spina as born in 1992 to Bernardino Campello della Spina and Sonia Raule. Her paternal grandmother was Maria Sole Agnelli, a sister of Fiat leader Gianni Agnelli. That makes Campello della Spina part of the extended Agnelli family, one of Italy’s most prominent industrial dynasties.

The identification is corroborated inside the Epstein corpus. A July 2013 message gave Epstein assistant Lesley Groff the traveler’s full name, birth year, Italian citizenship, and passport information. Later tickets render the surname as “Campellodellaspina,” while a 2018 email displays the full email account name and signature. The matching name, birth year, nationality, and continuing correspondence make the identity substantially stronger than a name only match.

The article does not reproduce her passport number, private addresses, telephone numbers, booking codes, bank numbers, or personal email address. Those details are unnecessary to understand the public interest evidence.

Education and Professional Background

The released files provide fragments rather than a full biography.

In July 2015, Campello della Spina told Epstein that she had just started an internship. In September 2015 and January 2016 she referred to classes and school obligations in London. On August 24, 2016, Epstein answered a message with the statement, “we paid for school.” The short released record does not identify the institution, invoice, amount, or purpose, so it establishes Epstein’s own claim of payment but not the complete transaction.

In June 2017, she described public relations work for a woman promoting several fashion and lifestyle brands. She said her duties included sending products to celebrities and helping with responses for events. She expected to be paid beginning in September and said the work could be done from a laptop during summer travel. This first person account is the clearest located evidence of her work at the time. It does not establish a later position or present occupation.

Public profiles bearing the same name are sparse and inconsistent. One search result describes an HSBC role, while another describes no employment. Neither profile has been independently tied to the person in the Epstein records, so this article does not use either as a verified career claim.

Nature of the Epstein Relationship

The files show a relationship maintained through both direct communication and Epstein’s household infrastructure. Epstein wrote to Campello della Spina about when they would meet, offered to pay for travel, asked about her internship and employment, discussed her personal life, and invited her to properties associated with him. Campello della Spina contacted Epstein and his assistants to arrange tickets, cars, apartments, appointments, and schedule changes.

Lesley Groff was the principal coordinator in the located records. Other household personnel appear in lodging, travel, apartment preparation, and delivery messages. The pattern is therefore not limited to private friendship. It involved staff time, Epstein controlled accounts, residential space, and repeated administrative follow through.

The tone was familiar. Messages include affectionate signoffs and requests to meet. In December 2017 Epstein asked for a selfie and invited her to see him in Palm Beach while she was in Miami. In January 2018 they discussed an older man she was seeing, identified by her as Spyros Niarchos, and Epstein referred to a mutual acquaintance from the 1980s, Jelitza Negrete.

Familiarity and patronage are evidence of proximity, not evidence of participation in Epstein’s crimes.

The 2013 Introduction and Early Travel

The earliest clearly identified record is from July 2013. Groff introduced Campello della Spina to another Epstein assistant who spoke Italian and lived in the same apartment complex. Groff asked for passport information on Epstein’s behalf. Campello della Spina supplied it, and Groff acknowledged receipt. The household also created a reminder about food for her. Days later, Groff told Epstein that Campello della Spina would call him.

August and September 2013 reminders concern tickets, car service, a possible trip to Epstein’s New Mexico ranch, and her departure from New York. A September 26 “Paris List” records that she would arrive by train the next evening among a group of people Epstein planned to contact or see.

A July 2014 apartment inquiry looked back at household records and stated that Campello della Spina had stayed in apartment 11P from October 31 through November 4. The retrospective message does not expressly state the year in its sentence, but its wording places the stay before July 2014 and most naturally in 2013.

The 2015 Records

In February 2015, Groff alerted household staff that Campello della Spina’s train would reach Paris before Epstein arrived. In July, Epstein offered to pay for her to come to Paris and suggested that she visit his New Mexico ranch in August. She reminded him that she had just begun an internship, and he asked when it would end.

September emails show both parties trying to arrange another visit. Campello della Spina said she was in London, wanted to see Epstein, and could come on a weekend and skip Monday classes. Travel records contain an itinerary under her compressed full surname for late September.

In November, staff processed a Eurostar voucher worth $381 in her name. The correspondence says the voucher arose from her travel and asks whether she should be told to expect it.

The 2016 Records

The 2016 files show the most concentrated use of Epstein’s staff and resources.

In January, Campello della Spina asked Groff to arrange Rome to Miami travel followed by a return timed for school in London. The thread also discussed obtaining a Rome to London itinerary at the same time. Groff warned that two concurrent bookings could trigger an airline “red flag” and later suggested creating an itinerary without a real ticket, or buying and canceling a refundable ticket. The released messages do not state why the second itinerary was wanted, so any further conclusion would be speculation. Staff later canceled the unused return segment after she landed and advised her about United States travel authorization.

In February, Epstein’s American Express account was used for a Eurostar booking in her full name between London and Paris. In May she asked Epstein’s staff to book an urgent Paris to London ticket. June reminders concern a seat purchase, when she could come to New York, and whether she could adjust her return date.

In July, she told Epstein that she had met Joseph Nahmad and was going to a boat. Epstein asked whether either of them had had “any success.” The phrase is ambiguous and should not be assigned a criminal or sexual meaning without corroboration.

On August 24, Epstein wrote that “we paid for school.” In September, his staff arranged a car from the airport and lodging in apartment 7J. Campello della Spina wrote that she believed she was supposed to stay in one of Epstein’s apartments. Household staff later prepared a guest room at the East 71st Street residence for her move from 7J. Another September email says she had Epstein’s permission to ask staff to organize a dentist appointment.

October records document a requested telephone call and a scheduled meeting with Epstein. November records concern a planned call, her departure for London, and whether she should remain in an apartment or return when it was more convenient for Epstein.

The 2017 and 2018 Records

February 2017 correspondence concerns travel from Europe to New York and Los Angeles, followed by a requested change from Los Angeles to Paris. Epstein initially rejected a more expensive ticket option, then instructed staff to book a Norwegian Air ticket. The discussion shows that his staff continued to manage and fund substantial international travel.

In June, Campello della Spina described her public relations work and summer availability. Epstein proposed a sequence involving his residences or travel schedule, and they negotiated dates from June 19 through June 26.

An October exchange contains personal commentary about another woman. It provides evidence of continued direct contact but does not establish an event or transaction relevant enough to repeat in detail.

In December, Campello della Spina thanked Epstein in a thread titled “iPhone X.” She told him she was in Miami, and Epstein invited her to Palm Beach. Separate household messages record delivery of the phone and her request for an unlocked device. Private address details in those messages are omitted.

The latest located direct exchange is dated January 3, 2018. Campello della Spina wished Epstein a happy new year and discussed a relationship with Spyros Niarchos. Epstein responded that he had known a mutual friend, Jelitza Negrete, in the 1980s.

Possible Payments from LSJE LLC

A January 6, 2020 intelligence report from the United Kingdom National Crime Agency to the FBI and United States Department of Justice described payments linked to Epstein. The report said that between June 2017 and April 2019, twelve payments totaling €36,743.20 were sent from an LSJE LLC Deutsche Bank private banking account to five accounts.

The released text identifies one destination as a Lloyds TSB Bank account whose holder is visible only as “DELLA SPINA.” Other identifying text is redacted or lost in extraction. Because Campello della Spina was in direct contact with Epstein during the same period, the entry is relevant. It is not sufficient to state as fact that every payment, or any known portion of the €36,743.20 total, went to her. The aggregate covers all five accounts.

The report says LSJE LLC was ultimately owned by Epstein. It also says the intelligence was supplied for covert development, required corroboration, and could not itself be used judicially without permission. Those limitations should travel with any citation to the document.

Legal and Regulatory Status

No located indictment, criminal complaint, civil complaint, government finding, or sanctions record accuses Campello della Spina of participating in Epstein’s sexual abuse, trafficking, financial crimes, or obstruction. She is not identified in the reviewed material as an Epstein employee or corporate officer.

The January 2020 NCA report is an intelligence lead, not a charging document or judicial finding. Its own handling restrictions say the information required corroboration and was not itself to be used evidentially or judicially without permission.

This status should not be misread in either direction. A lack of public charges does not answer every factual question about the relationship, while benefits and access do not prove criminal knowledge or conduct.

What the Evidence Establishes

The record establishes that Campello della Spina and Epstein maintained a continuing personal relationship after his 2008 Florida conviction. She communicated directly with him, visited or planned to visit places associated with him, stayed in housing controlled by his operation, and received extensive logistical and material support.

The record also establishes that Epstein’s staff treated her as a recurring guest whose travel, lodging, calls, and personal requests warranted regular attention. This was a supported relationship embedded in the machinery of his household, not a single social encounter.

Finally, the documents establish at least one explicit claim by Epstein that he paid for her schooling, a documented phone gift, and a possible financial relationship through an account bearing the name “DELLA SPINA.”

What the Evidence Does Not Establish

The reviewed record does not establish that Campello della Spina recruited anyone for Epstein, facilitated abuse, knew of his continuing criminal conduct, received proceeds of crime, or committed any offense.

It does not establish that she traveled on every booked itinerary. Ticketing records can show purchase or planning without proving boarding, arrival, or the activities of a trip.

It does not establish the school, amount, or reason for the claimed education payment. It does not conclusively identify the “DELLA SPINA” bank account holder as her or divide the reported €36,743.20 among the five recipients.

It also does not establish whether she understood the full source of Epstein’s wealth or the purpose of his support. The released correspondence contains no explanation from her about the relationship after Epstein’s arrest and death.

Why Margherita Campello della Spina Matters

Campello della Spina’s records illustrate how Epstein cultivated and maintained relationships with socially connected young adults through convenience, travel, housing, education, gifts, and staff support. She was approximately twenty when the clearly identified correspondence began, and Epstein was a convicted sex offender with a large household apparatus at his disposal.

The significance is structural. His assistants could turn a personal invitation into tickets, cars, apartments, meals, appointments, and follow up. The files show how patronage and access were administered over years and across countries. Understanding that infrastructure helps explain how Epstein continued to build social legitimacy and private dependency after his conviction.

That context must remain survivor centered. The relevant public question is how Epstein’s network operated and who enabled his access, money, and concealment. It is not responsible to convert every recipient of his attention or resources into an accused person without evidence.

  5. What expenses did Epstein ultimately pay for the dentist appointment and other personal support?
  6. Was the Lloyds account labeled “DELLA SPINA” in the NCA report hers, and if so, how many transfers did it receive, in what amounts, and for what stated purpose?
  7. What does the separately labeled 2016 wire instruction file concern, and was the payment completed?
  8. Did investigators interview her, seek records from her, or corroborate the NCA payment lead?
