Exhibit 27 gives readers a concrete way to examine how transactions connected to Jeffrey Epstein were described in material produced by JPMorgan. It includes large transfers between named accounts or entities, a transfer to Ghislaine Maxwell, payments to professional and household service providers, and attempted wires that the review says did not complete.
The source requires careful handling. Its scope page, PDF page 2, states a review cutoff of July 31, 2019, but a later paragraph prints three dates in October 2019. The production numbers also show that this is a selection from a larger body of material. Those features matter when using the exhibit to build a chronology, identify financial relationships or compare amounts across court records. Exhibit 27, PDF page 2, EFTA02816081; Exhibit 27, PDF page 4, EFTA02816083.
What Exhibit 27 is
The exhibit begins with a cover marked “EXHIBIT 27.” The next sheet says that negative media prompted a review of transactions related to Jeffrey E. Epstein and gives the period January 1, 2003 through July 31, 2019. It then presents identifying information about the subject. This guide omits personal identifiers and addresses that are unnecessary to understanding the financial record. Exhibit 27, PDF page 1, EFTA02816080; Exhibit 27, PDF page 2, EFTA02816081.
The remaining eight pages contain transaction descriptions. An entry may concern one wire, several wires on named dates, or a group covering a date range. Some entries provide a beneficiary and a payment reference. Others leave the recipient redacted. Several explicitly describe unsuccessful attempts. Exhibit 27, PDF pages 3 through 10, EFTA02816082 through EFTA02816089.
The visible pages do not identify the person who prepared the review or its preparation date. They do not label the document a Suspicious Activity Report. The precise description supported by the record is a transaction review produced by JPMorgan and filed as Exhibit 27. The names of banks, vendors or individuals in that review should not be presented as a list of criminal participants.
Court provenance and the selected production pages
The exhibit was filed in the Virgin Islands government’s civil action against JPMorgan. A declaration supporting the government’s motion for partial summary judgment identifies Exhibit 27 by its bank production numbers and says JPMorgan produced the document in the action. That filing describes the material as designated confidential by JPMorgan and filed under seal at that stage. Docket 237, PDF page 4, Exhibit 27 entry; Docket 239, Exhibit 27 entry.
The August 15, 2023 filing is different in function. Docket 285 is the government’s notice filing revised redacted documents associated with its summary judgment motion. The 10 page version examined here is attachment 285-6. The August 15 date is its public filing date, not a demonstrated date of authorship for the underlying review. Docket 285, PDF page 1; Exhibit 27, PDF page 1, EFTA02816080.
The sequence of production numbers is important. After JPM-SDNYLIT-W-00038289, the exhibit proceeds to JPM-SDNYLIT-W-00038401 and continues through 00038408. Readers should not treat the material between those production numbers as present in this exhibit. The selection may be useful without being a complete account history, a complete review or a complete collection of Epstein’s transactions. Exhibit 27, PDF page 2, EFTA02816081; Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082; Exhibit 27, PDF page 10, EFTA02816089.
Filing an exhibit gives it a place in the public court record. It does not make each description a judicial finding, identify every redacted recipient or establish that every payment had an unlawful purpose. The government’s arguments, the bank’s responses and the court’s rulings must be assessed separately from what these particular sheets say.
How to read a transaction entry
A useful reading separates five fields: the date or period printed in the review, the stated originator, the amount, the banks involved and any beneficiary or reference. Where an entry combines several wires, its dollar figure is the group’s stated total. It is not the amount of each wire in that group.
Bank roles also differ. The review describes funds originating at institutions including Bear Stearns and Deutsche Bank, sometimes passing through another bank and reaching an account at JPMorgan. A receiving bank or correspondent bank is not automatically the originator’s bank. A wire from Epstein’s Deutsche Bank account to a beneficiary at JPMorgan, for example, does not by itself establish that Epstein held a JPMorgan deposit account on that date. Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082; Exhibit 27, PDF page 6, EFTA02816085.
Payment references supply additional leads, but their wording has limits. A reference to an attorney investment account does not establish that the full amount was earned as a legal fee. An invoice reference does not disclose every service delivered. A reimbursement label does not establish the recipient’s identity, the underlying expense or the lawfulness of a wider relationship.
This guide uses “the review describes” rather than treating the summary as an independently reconciled bank ledger. The source identifies some attempted wires as not completed. For other entries, the word “originated” is reported as the source’s wording, without adding a separate confirmation of settlement or final receipt.
Large transfers and named entities
Family Interests LP
The first transaction entry describes a December 12, 2003 wire for $55,878,270.01 originating from Family Interests LP at Bear Stearns, debited through Citibank and sent to Family Interests LP care of Financial Trust Co GP at JPMorgan. The entry says no payment details were referenced. It supplies a route and party labels, but no explanation of the underlying transaction. The amount should not be characterized as income, a gift, a fee or criminal proceeds on this record alone. Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082, first entry.
The Ghislaine Maxwell wire
The review describes one June 15, 2007 wire for $7.4 million from Epstein at Bear Stearns Securities Corp, debited through Mellon Bank, to Ghislaine Maxwell at JPMorgan. It does not state the payment’s purpose. Establishing the route and amount described in this entry is different from establishing the legal or economic reason for the transfer. Exhibit 27, PDF page 6, EFTA02816085, fourth newly starting entry.
Readers researching account ownership and entity history can compare the source with the Ghislaine Maxwell entities guide. That broader inquiry should retain the distinction between a payment entry and evidence about what the recipient knew or did.
Forums, NES and the trusts
Other entries describe $250,000 to Forums LLC on March 1, 2005; two wires totaling $150,000 to NES LLC on October 24 and November 6, 2013; five wires totaling $540,000 to the 2001 Jeffrey E. Epstein Insurance Trust from March 2004 through March 2008; and $2,408,447.11 to the Sweater Trust on December 3, 2003. These are separate entries with different dates, parties and potential purposes. Exhibit 27, PDF page 6, EFTA02816085, second entry; Exhibit 27, PDF page 9, EFTA02816088, third entry; Exhibit 27, PDF page 10, EFTA02816089, seventh and eighth entries.
The trust and company labels can guide searches for governing instruments, account statements and transaction instructions. They do not, without those records, resolve beneficial ownership, the consideration exchanged or how much money ultimately remained under any person’s control. See the Epstein financial network overview for the wider entity context.
Legal services and reputation management
Transfers involving law firms
A July 12, 2004 entry describes $2 million from Financial Trust Company Inc. to a beneficiary the review identifies as Wachtel Missry LLP, with a reference to an attorney investment account. A separate September 16, 2010 entry describes $50,000 from Financial Trust Company to Kirkland & Ellis, with a reference to Epstein and a reporting requirement. Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082, third and second entries respectively.
The review also describes five wires totaling $590,969.04 from April 22, 2008 through October 23, 2009 to Kirkland & Ellis. Those dates and the originator label differ from the 2010 Financial Trust entry. They should remain distinct in a source register rather than being collapsed into a single unexplained figure. Exhibit 27, PDF page 8, EFTA02816087, fifth entry.
Additional descriptions name Mehmet Arda Beskardes and contain references to retainers, filing fees and other matters, with identifying details redacted. The source supports reporting the existence of those descriptions. It does not establish the facts of every client matter or wrongdoing by the attorney. Protected identities and redacted personal details should remain protected. Exhibit 27, PDF page 8, EFTA02816087, eighth and ninth entries; Exhibit 27, PDF page 9, EFTA02816088, first entry.
Reputation related providers
The exhibit also preserves a set of entries relevant to Epstein’s public image. These include two wires totaling $50,000 to Hiltzik Strategies in June and July 2017, $10,000 to Newgrange Consulting Group in September 2010, two wires totaling $21,000 to Reputation Changer in October and December 2012, and $25,000 to Rubenstein Associates in June 2008. Exhibit 27, PDF page 6, EFTA02816085, seventh entry; Exhibit 27, PDF page 9, EFTA02816088, fifth, seventh and ninth entries.
These entries do not supply a complete accounting of public relations work. They do not establish that the recipients knew about or participated in sexual abuse. The review’s description of Rubenstein Associates as a law firm also requires caution: a business label in a transaction summary should not be accepted as a verified professional classification merely because it appears in a court exhibit.
Aircraft, property and other service categories
The review includes transactions described as aircraft maintenance or related services. Examples include two entries naming Rotorcraft Solutions, payments to Gulfstream Aerospace and Honeywell, and a payment to Rolls Royce. These entries supply dates, amounts and, in some cases, invoice or aircraft references. They do not by themselves establish a passenger list, a particular flight or the purpose of travel. Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082, fifth and sixth entries; Exhibit 27, PDF page 6, EFTA02816085, fifth and ninth entries, the latter continuing on page 7; Exhibit 27, PDF page 9, EFTA02816088, eighth entry.
Other named providers concern packing and shipping, art, interior design, home systems, marine work and equipment. Entries involving AirSea Packing, Christie’s, Clarity Custom, JP Molyneux Studio and Tajan illustrate the range. This mix is a reason to examine purpose rather than assign a single explanation to every wire. Exhibit 27, PDF page 3, EFTA02816082, eighth entry; Exhibit 27, PDF page 5, EFTA02816084, second and third entries; Exhibit 27, PDF page 7, EFTA02816086, seventh entry; Exhibit 27, PDF page 10, EFTA02816089, sixth entry.
The source also contains descriptions involving schools, medical services and people whose names are redacted. Those passages require particular restraint. This guide does not reproduce private medical narratives, account numbers, contact details or identities inferred from other versions. A payment involving an educational or medical provider is not evidence of abuse by that provider.
The categories here are reading aids, not findings that every item in a category had the same purpose. The exhibit lacks the contracts, invoices and underlying account documentation needed to make that determination for all entries. The Bear Stearns article provides institutional background, while this guide remains focused on the particular transactions described in the exhibit.
Attempts that the review says did not complete
Four grouped descriptions expressly say the attempted wires did not complete. Three appear on PDF page 4: three attempted wires totaling $1,633.35 on two printed dates in 2015, one attempted wire for $87,398.24 in September 2010, and one attempted wire for $5,000 in December 2016. The fourth appears on PDF page 10 and concerns a $1,000 attempted wire in September 2014. Exhibit 27, PDF page 4, EFTA02816083, fourth through sixth newly starting entries; Exhibit 27, PDF page 10, EFTA02816089, third entry.
These descriptions should not be included in a claim about money successfully received. They also should not be silently paired with a similar looking completed entry to invent a reversal, retry or common recipient. Establishing such a relationship would require the underlying transaction identifiers and bank records.
The register below preserves unsuccessful attempts as their own status. It provides no overall dollar total, since this selected review is not a verified comprehensive ledger and the purpose of the register is source navigation.
The unresolved October 2019 dates
One paragraph contains a material chronological inconsistency. On PDF page 4, the review prints October 7, October 9 and October 20, 2019 for three wires totaling $18,840. It describes a route from Deutsche Bank to accounts at Sberbank of Russia, which the review identifies as a JPMorgan foreign correspondent bank, for a beneficiary located in the Russian Federation. The recipient’s identity is not needed to explain the discrepancy and is not reproduced here. Exhibit 27, PDF page 4, EFTA02816083, third newly starting entry, JPM-SDNYLIT-W-00038402.
Those printed dates fall after the review’s stated July 31, 2019 cutoff. They also fall after Epstein’s death on August 10, 2019, as documented by the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General. Exhibit 27, PDF page 2, EFTA02816081; DOJ OIG report 23-085, introduction and background.
The year is visible in the page image, so it cannot be dismissed as a text extraction error. The official DOJ indexed text repeats it. No corrected copy or explanatory filing was identified in the bounded searches performed for this review.
The responsible conclusion is limited: the paragraph cannot support an unqualified October 2019 chronology without clarification. This guide preserves the printed dates and flags them. It does not change the year, infer that Epstein personally initiated transactions after his death, or identify an executor or other person as the originator without evidence. An underlying wire record or a documented correction is needed to resolve the conflict.
Page and evidence identifier map
PDF page numbers refer to the complete 10 page exhibit, including its cover. EFTA numbers identify the displayed release pages. The bank production numbers are a separate numbering system. These identifiers should be kept together when quoting or cross referencing the source.

Complete grouped entry register
The following register covers all 71 grouped transaction descriptions that begin on PDF pages 3 through 10. That is an editorial count of paragraphs or groups, not 71 individual wires and not a complete universe of Epstein’s transactions. A group can contain multiple wires.
Each section follows the source’s page order rather than rearranging the entries chronologically. “Entry” counts only descriptions beginning on that page, so a paragraph carried over from the preceding page is not counted twice. Amounts are the review’s stated amounts for the entire group. Dates retain the source’s month, day and year order. Recipient names, account numbers and private references are omitted from this navigation register.
“Described as originated” reports the review’s wording without independently confirming final receipt. “Did not complete” identifies an explicit failed attempt. The October 2019 group has an unresolved date warning. No grand total is calculated.

What this exhibit can and cannot establish
The exhibit supports precise statements about what this review records: dates, originators, dollar amounts, named banks, visible beneficiary labels and selected payment references. It also supports an account of how those pages entered the civil case and which parts of the source remain redacted or internally inconsistent.
It does not establish a comprehensive total of Epstein’s money movements, the ultimate destination of all funds, the identities behind redactions or the purposes of every transfer. It does not identify an individual author whose methodology can be assessed from these pages alone.
Nor does it resolve what a vendor, lawyer, bank employee or other recipient knew about abuse. Transactions can be relevant to an investigation without independently proving that knowledge. The distinction is especially important when a payment reference, amount or geographic destination attracts attention but the supporting contract, invoice, instruction or correspondence is absent.
Amounts repeated in briefs, declarations, exhibits or later releases should be traced back to their underlying transaction before being counted again. A second citation or differently redacted copy may be another presentation of the same event. This guide therefore keeps the 71 source groups distinct and avoids an aggregate financial conclusion.
Questions for further verification
- Who prepared the transaction review, when was it prepared, and what instructions defined its scope?
- What does the complete review contain beyond the selected production pages filed as Exhibit 27?
- Which original wire confirmations and account statements support each description?
- What explains the October 2019 dates, and is there a corrected version with a documented history?
- Which bank was the originator’s institution, an intermediary, a correspondent or the beneficiary’s institution in each route?
- What contracts, invoices or account instructions explain the larger entity, trust, professional service and aircraft related payments?
- For attempted wires, what prevented completion, and do the bank records document any later successful replacement?
- Which entries reappear in other filings or releases, and can they be matched without double counting?
- Where a brief draws a further conclusion from this exhibit, what additional testimony or documents support that conclusion?
- Can outstanding questions be answered while preserving protected identities and avoiding unnecessary disclosure of private account, contact or medical information?
These questions identify the next evidence needed. They are not allegations that the missing records would prove misconduct.
