|---|---|
| Subject | Michael Weinstein, the photographer and founder of MWSTUDIO. |
| Documented engagement | Architectural photography of Jeffrey Epstein’s New York townhouse in 2012. The paid studio invoice (PDF p. 1) names Weinstein and lists June 20, 2012 as the shoot date. |
| Agreed scope and fee | 50 photographs for $6,500. The correspondence distinguishes initial proofs, image selection and retouching. |
| Main evidence | Studio and household emails; schedules; watermarked photographic proof sheets; invoice; payment receipt; duplicate card-statement records. |
| Important boundary | The initial inquiry also mentioned an island and a ranch. The reviewed records establish the New York job, but do not establish completed photography at those other properties. |
The 2012 studio correspondence (PDF p. 1–3) and MWSTUDIO invoice (PDF p. 1) document a photography commission at Epstein’s 9 East 71st Street townhouse. Together with the released proofs and payment records, they provide a traceable sequence from a proposed assignment to a photographed property, image selection and a paid invoice.
Key Takeaways
- The records document a paid New York townhouse photography job in 2012.
- The agreement covered 50 images, while the July 26 correspondence records 42 choices. The reviewed records do not verify receipt of all 50 final retouched files.
- The invoice, receipt and matching statement charge concern one $6,500 commission. Duplicate release copies are not additional payments.
- The other properties appear as proposals or potential future work, without evidence here of completed assignments.
Professional identity and the source connection
The studio’s official biography identifies Michael Weinstein as its founder. It describes a career beginning in portrait and fashion photography, a move from Chicago to New York, and a later focus on architecture and real estate. The official studio site presents architectural and interior photography and retouching services.
The historical emails carry the MWSTUDIO name and mw-studio.com domain. The invoice supplies the direct connection between that business, the named photographer, Epstein and the townhouse assignment. Some messages have “Michael Weinstein” in the From field but are signed by studio staff member Zyanna. Those messages are attributed to the studio or to their signatory rather than automatically treated as Weinstein’s personal words.
From the first inquiry to the New York shoot
The May 2012 forwarded inquiry and quote (PDF p. 1) records an initial request for photographs of three properties: the New York townhouse, a Virgin Islands island and a New Mexico ranch. The sender said Deborah Grubman supplied the contact. The forwarding message specifically proposed starting with New York, seeing how the New York assignment went, and discussing the other properties afterward. That is evidence of a proposed sequence, not completion of three assignments.
The price and scope developed through several exchanges. An initial offer covered ten retouched photographs, with additional images and assistant costs. The later negotiation concerned 50 photographs. In the expanded negotiation chain (PDF p. 2), Weinstein accepted $6,500 all-in on June 2. Earlier availability on June 13 and 14 was replaced by arrangements for June 20 and 21. The June 15 confirmation (PDF p. 1) agreed a 10:00 start on June 20.
| Date | What the record establishes | Source |
|---|---|---|
| May 29–30, 2012 | Initial three-property inquiry; proposal to begin with New York. Initial quote: $2,000 for ten retouched images, $150 per additional photograph and an assistant charge. | EFTA01883717 (PDF p. 1) |
| May 30–June 2 | Negotiation moves to 50 photographs; Weinstein accepts a $6,500 all-in fee. The earlier assistant proposal is not an additional proven payment. | EFTA00544911 (PDF p. 2) |
| June 5 | Studio correspondence confirms June 20 and 21 at the townhouse. A separate internal message announces those scheduled dates. | EFTA00544911 (PDF p. 1); EFTA00545363 (PDF p. 1) |
| June 15 | Studio and household correspondence reconfirms the booking and a 10:00 start on June 20. | EFTA00547284 (PDF p. 1) |
| June 20 | The later invoice identifies this as the shoot date. It does not itemize hours worked or separately certify work on June 21. | EFTA00520706 (PDF p. 1) |
The June 4 internal instructions (PDF p. 1) asked the correspondent to be present for the work; they do not state that Epstein would attend. June 15 household preparations (PDF p. 1) also discuss arranging fresh flowers and the Wednesday 10:00 start. Calendar copies and reminder messages repeat the booking. Their dates and alarm times must not be counted as additional shoots; the invoice and post-shoot correspondence supply separate evidence that the New York job occurred.
The June 11 reminder correction (PDF p. 1) changes the earlier June 13 and 14 plan to June 20 and 21. The updated schedule (PDF p. 2) lists a 10:00 start on June 20 and an unspecified time on June 21. Calendar alarm times are notification settings, not independent evidence of a different photographic appointment.
Proof delivery, selection and the final-file question
The unretouched-photo correspondence (PDF p. 1) preserves Weinstein’s June 28 message describing raw images from the shoot and asking the recipients to choose 50 for retouching. It explains that exposure differences and distracting details could be addressed in that process. The July 3 follow-up asks whether the proofs were received and accessible. Those are work-product communications, not a certification that all finished images had already been delivered.
The initial proof transmission also had documented problems. In a June 29 reply (PDF p. 1), Epstein reported that there was no attachment. In a later attachment check (PDF p. 1), he again answered negatively when asked whether the pictures were attached. The studio message and attachment list therefore do not establish successful receipt on the first attempt.
In the client-side July 11 status question (PDF p. 1), Epstein was asked how to proceed with the townhouse photographs. The July 13 reply (PDF p. 1) requested a Saturday reminder, followed by a July 14 reminder (PDF p. 1). These messages document follow-up within the household, rather than new assignments or new photo deliveries.
A July 24 viewing-link message offered another way to inspect the photos and again requested 50 selections. In the July 26 selection and payment chain (PDF p. 1), the studio acknowledged 42 choices and asked whether Epstein or Weinstein should choose the remaining eight. Zyanna also requested full payment before retouching began. The 50-image agreement, 42-image selection list and visible thumbnail counts describe different things.
The internal correspondence adds a decision sequence. An early reply was ambiguous, but the later July 26 payment instruction (PDF p. 1) expressly directs payment, asks to see how the first 25 are handled, and defers choosing the remaining eight. That later message supports payment authorization; it does not establish a completed 50-file delivery.
The August 3 photos-ready exchange says the photographs were ready and offers an electronic transfer or a disk. Epstein’s reply accepts the proposed transfer-link method. In the August 4 follow-up, Weinstein says he enjoyed photographing the townhouse and asks whether everything was received. He also offers to photograph another property. The reviewed exchange contains no recipient acknowledgment establishing the number of final files received and no accepted commission for another property.
The released photographic proof sheets
The archive contains actual photographs as well as email attachment names. The June 29 proof-sheet email (PDF p. 1–2) shows 24 visible thumbnails bearing Michael Weinstein’s watermark. Its header identifies Sarah K as sender and Epstein as recipient. The written commission records establish the townhouse context; the images are not geographically identified through visual resemblance alone.
Across the reviewed sheets, visible subjects include decorated interiors, stairs and bookshelves, ceiling and furnishing details, terrace views, bath fixtures, exercise equipment and a console with multiple display screens. The pictures do not establish the screens’ purpose, operational state or connections. People appearing incidentally in framed photographs are not identified here.
| Proof filenames in the email | Original records and pages | What is actually visible |
|---|---|---|
| Proofs 1 and 2 | EFTA01178640 (PDF p. 1); EFTA00549142 (PDF p. 1–2) | 21 thumbnails in the first record and a repeated sheet on page 2 of the second. The different email times reflect separate sends of the same apparent sheet arrangement. |
| Proofs 3 and 4 | EFTA00549125 (PDF p. 1–2) | 26 visible frames: 12 on page 1 and 14 on page 2. |
| Proofs 5-1 and 5-2 | EFTA01178643 (PDF p. 1–2); EFTA00549135 (PDF p. 1–2) | The first record contains 20 thumbnails plus one larger photograph. The second has a broken-image placeholder on page 1 and the same larger photograph on page 2. |
| Proofs 6, 7 and 8 | EFTA00549138 (PDF p. 1–2) | 24 visible thumbnails: 14 on page 1 and ten on page 2. |
| Proofs 9 | EFTA00549140 (PDF p. 1) | 16 visible thumbnails. |
| Alternate released renderings | EFTA00939329, EFTA00939341, EFTA00939330, EFTA00939336, EFTA00939339, EFTA00632467 | These copies contain broken-image placeholders. Attachment filenames do not prove an image is viewable in that particular PDF. |
| Email container classified as a scan | EFTA01769429 (PDF p. 1–11) | A forwarded viewing-link email followed by largely blank or garbled pages; no property photographs are visible. |
These are counts of displayed frames in particular released records. They are not a verified count of unique photographs, original exposures, rooms or final delivered files. Duplicated sheets and broken-image renderings prevent treating the sum as a complete inventory of the shoot.
Invoice, receipt and card-statement evidence
The July 23 invoice (PDF p. 1) identifies Epstein as client, Weinstein as photographer, the townhouse address and June 20 as the shoot date. It bills 50 photographs at $130 each, records a $6,500 paid line and shows a $0 balance. The July 26 invoice-and-receipt email (PDF p. 1) names the related invoice and payment attachments.

| Record | Precise evidence | Accounting limit |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice | EFTA00520706 (PDF p. 1) and EFTA02312460 (PDF p. 1): matching invoice number, $6,500 fee, paid line and zero balance. | Two release copies do not create two charges. The invoice’s July 23 date is distinct from the receipt’s July 26 transaction date. |
| Payment receipt | EFTA02312458 (PDF p. 1–2): PayPal transaction record identifies Epstein, the matching invoice reference, July 26, 2012 and $6,500 with status completed. | The recipient field is redacted. This account does not reconstruct it or reproduce transaction/security identifiers. |
| Card statement | EFTA00553437 (PDF p. 13) (Bates EFTA00553449) and EFTA02700965 (PDF p. 13) (Bates EFTA02700977): July 26 MWSTUDIOS photographic-studio charge of $6,500; statement closes August 10. | The copies record the same underlying card charge, not separate payments. Statement OCR in one copy misreads the amount; the scanned entry shows $6,500. |
| Large compilation | EFTA01671962: related matching extracted text was located. | The relevant original page was not visually verified. This compilation is not needed to substantiate the amount and is not counted as another transaction. |
The records support a paid commercial photography commission. They do not establish that the photographer knew of or participated in criminal conduct. The amount is reported as documented consideration for the job, without an inference about another purpose.
Evidence appearances and duplicate records
This register groups the reviewed source appearances. Numbers refer to one-based pages within each cited document; Bates identifiers are printed production labels. Repeated renderings, quoted chains and schedule updates are not separate commissions.

Public response and limits of this account
No public statement by this photographer addressing these particular released records was located in the targeted studio-name and full-name searches reviewed for this article. That is a search result, not a claim that he has never commented. His direct 2012 correspondence, including his description of the completed townhouse shoot, is included above.
- The New York commission is documented. The initial island and ranch inquiry and later offer of another job do not demonstrate completed work at either location.
- A business relationship, payment or photograph does not establish knowledge of abuse or participation in it.
- Calendar reminders and repeated email chains are not counted as independent visits, jobs or payments.
- Redacted contacts and payment identifiers remain omitted. No hidden text, faces or private identities are reconstructed.
- The original scans, their extracted text, a search-card match and a machine-generated category are different kinds of evidence. Material conclusions above rely on readable original pages.
The review covered the returned records from searches for MWSTUDIO, the exact name Michael Weinstein and the studio domain, plus a targeted June 2012 proof-file follow-up and related original records. All 45 schedule and reminder documents, comprising 82 source-text pages, were screened in full text; nine representative original documents were visually checked. The other record groups were checked against original scans as specified above. The large statement compilation remains text-only; one unrelated namesake result was excluded. This is a bounded review of the identified photography records, not a claim to have searched every possible spelling, unindexed attachment or document in the full release.
