Reporting Credit and Scope

Kait Justice’s October 20, 2025 report drew attention to a flight-log entry she identified with businessman Mitchell Rales. This Sleuth Report credits that reporting lead and checks the cited page against the original image in the House Oversight Committee’s linked archive.

The original scan supports the quoted name entry. It also requires corrections to the report’s date, aircraft discussion, and proposed route. The article’s questions about financial services are not established by this flight log.

Key Takeaways

  • The date is July 19, 2008, not July 17. That is 19 days after Epstein’s June 30 guilty plea. Flight-log scan; DOJ-hosted court-record timeline.
  • The passenger field reads “DEMO FLIGHT Mitchel RALES.” No other passenger is named on the page, and the onboard-leg boxes are unmarked. HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_005548.
  • KPBI and PBI appear in the From column; the To column is blank. The page does not support the article’s claimed WPBF-to-PBI route. Original scan.
  • A federal litigation filing identifies N908GM as a Sikorsky S76C helicopter registered to Air Ghislaine Inc. The Gulfstream discussion in Justice’s article does not describe that aircraft. Court filing, paragraph 223.

What the Original Page Shows

The form is headed “Air Ghislaine N908GM” and bears the production identifier HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_005548. The date appears twice: “071908” near the title and “7-19-08” in the flight table. The name appears in a field labelled Passenger Name, as part of the demo-flight notation. This is the evidence for the name entry; the form does not supply a full legal name or another personal identifier. Read the original page.

KPBI is written on the first row and PBI on the second, both under From. The destination fields are empty. KPBI and PBI were identifiers for the same airport, Palm Beach International, rather than two separate Palm Beach airports. FAA aeronautical publication. A route between two airports cannot be reconstructed from these entries.

The log does not list Jeffrey Epstein as a passenger. It should not be described as proof that the person named flew with Epstein. A signature appears at the bottom, but this review does not assign it to a particular pilot without further identification.

Aircraft and Timing

Paragraph 223 of a federal court filing in the US Virgin Islands litigation against JPMorgan describes a Sikorsky S76C helicopter and N908GM’s registration to Air Ghislaine Inc. JPMorgan’s response expressly leaves that registration undisputed. This supports identifying the aircraft as a helicopter, while keeping the parties’ broader litigation positions separate from the registration fact.

A DOJ-hosted court-record timeline dates Epstein’s state guilty plea and sentencing to June 30, 2008, and the start of work release to October 10. The July 19 log therefore falls after sentencing and before that work-release date. That chronology does not establish a meeting or communication between Epstein and the person named in the log.

The House Committee’s release announcement is dated October 17, 2025 and links the estate records. Justice’s article body gives October 18, although its subheading gives October 17. The Committee’s own publication date is the date used here.

Limits and Unanswered Questions

Justice identifies the entry with Mitchell Rales and raises questions about its purpose. The page itself establishes the wording of a demo-flight entry, but not an aircraft purchase, a financial-services engagement, knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, or participation in abuse. The article’s proposed connection to tax structuring is an investigative suggestion, not a finding supported by this log.

The useful next records would be contemporaneous aircraft-sale or demonstration arrangements, booking correspondence, pilot identification, and another record that independently confirms the passenger’s full identity. These are questions for further research. Their absence from this page is not evidence that records were concealed or that wrongdoing occurred.

Provenance and Review Record

Reviewed November 6, 2026. The flight-log image was retrieved from the estate-records Drive archive linked by the House Oversight Committee and visually inspected, including its date, field placement, name entry, and production stamp. The conclusions above distinguish that direct document review from Justice’s interpretation and from contextual court records.
