In a May 2013 email about a Caribbean flight, Larry Visoski did more than name Bill Murphy. He discussed pilot qualifications, aircraft experience, and the need for an insurer to approve the assignment. That operational detail gives investigators a much clearer picture of Murphy’s place in Epstein’s aviation network than a flight passenger count could provide.

Key Takeaways

  • The May 2013 email explicitly discusses Murphy’s pilot qualifications and insurance approval.
  • March 2005 indexed legs provide a travel sequence to compare with the pilot’s later account.
  • Office messages under the same name do not independently establish that every entry refers to the pilot.

The 2013 Pilot Email: Insurance and Actual Flight Planning

EFTA00959961 preserves a May 5, 2013 exchange between Jeffrey Epstein and pilot Larry Visoski about a proposed May 12 itinerary from St. Thomas through Orlando to Palm Beach. Visoski proposed using Bill Murphy and a pilot referred to as Dave. He described Murphy as type rated on Gulfstream aircraft and said that his recent recurrent training could support insurer approval.

Why does this matter? It is contemporaneous operational correspondence about regulatory and insurance considerations. It directly shows Murphy was under consideration for actual flight duties. It is more informative about his role than seeing a bare name in a passenger spreadsheet. But it is still planning correspondence. Confirmation that the May 12 flight occurred, and who ultimately crewed it, requires the completed operations record, insurer approval and flight manifest.

The email also states that Murphy had flown the aircraft previously with Dave and Maxwell on a trip between New York and California. This is Visoski’s description, not a separately authenticated crew roster for that older journey. An investigator should search the dated logbooks rather than declare the unlocated trip proven.

Flight Records and the Difference Between Crew and Passengers

Government Exhibit 662 RR is the primary collection of handwritten aircraft logs admitted in the Maxwell prosecution. It contains crew, routes, dates and passenger notations, sometimes compressed into initials. Published extracts of 2005 records have entries naming Bill Murphy or using BM as an abbreviation on aircraft movements involving New York and West Coast destinations. A bare BM must be resolved in context because initials can be ambiguous.

A pilot serving in an aircraft operation should not automatically be described as a passenger in a social network. The difference matters for aviation, employment, and criminal evidence. Flight crews are required to travel to perform their work, and merely sharing an aircraft does not establish a personal relationship with every person aboard.

The Manhattan Appointment Schedule

EFTA00314248 is a schedule for April 7 and 8, with an April 7 afternoon appointment for Bill Murphy at Epstein’s East 71st Street residence. The document also names numerous other visitors and work related appointments. It supports the narrower finding that Murphy was scheduled for a meeting, not that all those named attended or met each other.

This schedule could connect aviation planning to in person discussions, but without the year and corroborating communications it cannot establish the exact context of the appointment. An event marked on a secretary’s calendar is a planned activity. A completed visit is a different claim requiring confirmation.

What the Combined Records Establish

Three independent record types describe Murphy as part of Epstein’s aviation logistics: the flight logbook, a later pilot staffing email and a proposed meeting. The strongest conclusion is operational, not social. In the May 2013 email, Visoski speaks as a working pilot discussing aircrew qualifications and insurer requirements. The flight record describes aircraft movements. The schedule may show coordination with the residence. None of these sources establishes knowledge of Epstein’s abuse or criminal participation.

These documents should also be compared against the EpsteinWiki Flights and Travel Research Guide, which explains how independent aviation evidence and document provenance can resolve inconsistencies in derivative passenger lists.

Additional Office Messages and the Same Name Problem

Lesley Groff’s September 13, 2010 office message tells Epstein that Bill Murphy is present. An April 28, 2010 message requests approval for days off, while A May 24 reminder refers to the requested holiday. These records show office coordination under that name, but they do not state a job title.

The 2013 pilot email is explicit about aviation qualifications. The 2010 messages and April schedule are not. A shared full name makes cross comparison reasonable; it does not conclusively establish that every Bill Murphy in the corpus is the same employee or contractor.

The March 2005 Indexed Travel Sequence

Epstein Data’s flight finding aid returned 3 matching entries for this recorded spelling on October 14, 2026. The following table includes every returned entry in that search. It is a scoped search inventory, not a claim that every journey in the person’s life or every released record has been found.

The source column identifies records attached to the indexed flight. It does not assert that every attached record names this traveler. Some original sources preserve only a route, initials or redacted passengers, while a derivative compiler supplies a full name. Those distinctions must remain visible. Multiple source labels can refer to copies or transcriptions of one underlying record.

Visoski’s May 2013 description of an earlier New York and California flight is consistent with investigating this sequence. The index includes Palm Beach to San Diego, San Diego to Chicago Midway and Midway to Teterboro. That is a comparison lead rather than an independent proof that these were the exact trips Visoski meant.

Questions and Unresolved Issues

  • Was the proposed May 12, 2013 route flown, and who signed the actual crew log?
  • What insurer approvals were requested or received for Murphy?
  • Which manuscript entries in Government Exhibit 662 RR spell out Murphy’s full name, and which use ambiguous initials?
  • When was the April 7 appointment schedule created and does it correspond to a completed visit?
  • Do payroll, contractor or charter documents describe Murphy’s employment relationship and precise flight duties?
