Paolo Zampolli

Snapshot
Paolo Zampolli is an Italian American businessman, former modeling agent, real estate executive, diplomat, and United States presidential envoy.
He founded ID Model Management in New York and has long said that he helped Melania Knauss obtain modeling work in the United States and introduced her to Donald Trump at a New York party in 1998.
Released Jeffrey Epstein records document several intersections between Zampolli and Epstein.
The strongest evidence establishes that:
- Epstein visited the offices of ID Model Management.
- An Epstein employee and alleged co conspirator had previously been represented by ID Models.
- A witness told the FBI that Epstein saw the woman’s modeling portfolio while visiting the agency.
- Zampolli and Epstein participated in an unsuccessful 2004 bid to acquire Elite Model Management.
- Material from Zampolli was forwarded to Epstein in 2010 at Zampolli’s request.
- Epstein warned an associate in 2011 that Zampolli was “trouble” and explained that Zampolli sold stories to the press.
- Zampolli later communicated with Ghislaine Maxwell about the TerraMar Project, according to emails published by independent researchers.
- Zampolli’s former partner Amanda Ungaro has said that she travelled on Epstein’s aircraft as a teenage model before beginning her relationship with Zampolli.
- Zampolli’s modeling, diplomatic, business, and social networks repeatedly overlapped with people appearing in the Epstein record.
The evidence does not establish that Zampolli recruited minors for Epstein, participated in Epstein’s sexual abuse, visited Epstein’s island, or committed an Epstein related criminal offense.
Zampolli has denied being closely associated with Epstein. He acknowledged to The American Prospect that Epstein visited ID Models but rejected any implication of collaboration or endorsement.
As of September 1, 2026, Zampolli is not publicly known to have been charged with or convicted of an offense arising from Epstein’s trafficking operation.
Identity and Background
Paolo Zampolli was born in Milan, Italy, on March 5, 1970.
He entered the fashion and modeling industry after working in Italy and Ibiza. Accounts of his early career connect him with Elite Model Management founder John Casablancas and with Metropolitan Models.
Zampolli later moved to New York and founded ID Model Management.
His business model included recruiting international models, arranging immigration sponsorship, supplying agency housing, developing relationships with photographers and fashion publications, and promoting models through New York’s social and nightlife industries.
The Paolo Zampolli chronology assembled by Epstein Class researchers traces his movement from European fashion events into New York modeling, real estate, diplomacy, and political appointments.
That chronology is investigative synthesis. Individual claims should be checked against the primary records and contemporaneous reporting linked throughout this article.
ID Model Management
ID Model Management operated from Manhattan and represented models recruited from the United States and other countries.
The agency provided or arranged shared apartments for models arriving in New York. These housing arrangements were common within the modeling industry, particularly for young international models who did not have established income or family support in the city.
The system also created vulnerabilities.
A model could depend on an agency for immigration sponsorship, housing, employment, transportation, introductions, and access to photographers. Rent, portfolio expenses, commissions, and other costs could be charged against future earnings.
Zampolli also developed ModelLife, an online project that displayed the lives of models sharing a New York apartment. The project was presented as a promotional opportunity for models and the agency.
The significance to the Epstein investigation is not that every modeling agency was involved in trafficking. It is that Epstein repeatedly sought access to young women through the international modeling industry and cultivated relationships with agents, photographers, scouts, and model managers.
ID Models became one of the agencies appearing within that wider environment.
Melania Knauss and Donald Trump
Zampolli has long said that he helped bring Slovenian model Melania Knauss to New York in 1996 and sponsored an H1B work visa for her through ID Model Management.
He has also said that he introduced Knauss to Donald Trump at a party at the Kit Kat Club in September 1998.
Melania Trump has described meeting Donald Trump through Zampolli’s modeling and social circle. In 2026, Zampolli publicly offered to testify that he, rather than Epstein, introduced the couple.
Zampolli told The Times that claims Epstein arranged the introduction were false. He said that Melania Trump had nothing to do with Epstein’s criminal conduct.
The released evidence reviewed for this article does not establish that Epstein introduced Donald Trump and Melania Knauss.
The fact that Zampolli, Trump, Melania Knauss, and Epstein moved within overlapping New York social and modeling environments does not identify who made the introduction without reliable direct evidence.
Jeffrey Epstein’s Access to ID Models
A 2019 FBI proffer described Epstein visiting the offices of ID Model Management.
The witness was Adriana Mucinska, also known in later records as Adriana Ross. Mucinska subsequently worked for Epstein as an assistant and scheduler and was identified in Epstein’s Florida non prosecution agreement as a potential co conspirator. She was not charged with an Epstein related offense.
According to handwritten FBI notes released as EFTA00105195, Mucinska said that her former husband, FashionTV figure Duncan Ross, connected her with modeling agents, including Zampolli.
She said Zampolli organized her move to New York for modeling work and that she lived in shared housing on Varick Street near the ID Models office.
The notes indicate that Epstein saw a topless photograph in Mucinska’s modeling portfolio while casting or reviewing models at the agency. She later joined Zampolli and Epstein at a nightclub and subsequently received an invitation to Epstein’s Manhattan residence.
Mucinska told investigators that Epstein made a sexual advance during that visit and that she rejected it. She later moved to Florida and worked for Epstein.
The notes are significant because they place Epstein physically inside ID Models and describe his access to a model’s portfolio.
They do not establish that Zampolli knew Epstein would make a sexual advance, directed Mucinska to accept employment with Epstein, or knew the full extent of Epstein’s abuse.
The handwriting in EFTA00105195 is difficult to read, and portions are marked as subject to a protective order. It should not be quoted as though it were a clean, verbatim transcript.
The American Prospect investigation provides a detailed reconstruction of the Mucinska evidence and links to the underlying Justice Department records.
Zampolli’s Response Concerning Mucinska
When The American Prospect asked Zampolli about Mucinska, he said that ID Models had represented many international models and that an agency owner would not necessarily remember every model.
After reviewing her FBI statements, Zampolli acknowledged that Epstein had visited the ID Models headquarters.
He denied that the visit represented involvement, collaboration, or endorsement of Epstein’s conduct.
That response is important.
It confirms the basic fact that Epstein entered the agency while preserving Zampolli’s denial of any improper partnership.
No public court judgment reviewed for this article determined that Zampolli knowingly supplied Mucinska or another ID model to Epstein for sexual exploitation.
A Separate FBI Interview Concerning an ID Models Client
Another released FBI record concerns a different witness who had previously worked for ID Models.
EFTA01245554 records that the witness began modeling as a minor, signed with Elite Model Management at fifteen, and later signed with ID Models at eighteen.
She lived in an agency apartment on Varick Street with other models.
The FBI report says the witness described Zampolli as “sleazy,” said that he dated models, and recalled that he told her to obtain a short haircut before the agency released her.
After leaving ID Models, she worked at a coffee shop near Union Square.
The record then describes a separate event. A blonde woman with an Eastern European accent approached her at the coffee shop and recruited her to provide massages for Epstein. The witness later described sexual abuse by Epstein.
The sequence is important, but it must not be misrepresented.
The report does not say Zampolli sent the recruiter, introduced the witness to Epstein, arranged her massage appointment, or knew that the coffee shop approach occurred.
It establishes that a later Epstein survivor had previously been an ID Models client and lived in agency housing. It does not establish that ID Models delivered her to Epstein.
The same interview appears in alternative productions as EFTA00086883 and EFTA00173834.
These copies should be treated as repeated productions of substantially the same witness account rather than three independent witnesses.
The Modeling Industry Connection
The Mucinska notes and the separate FBI interview document two different connections between ID Models and women who later entered Epstein’s environment.
One connection involved an Epstein visit to the ID Models office and his reported viewing of a model’s portfolio.
The other involved a former ID Models client who was independently approached at a coffee shop after leaving the agency.
Those accounts illustrate why the modeling industry is relevant to the Epstein investigation. Epstein’s access did not depend on a single agency. His network included Jean Luc Brunel, MC2 Model Management, Elite related figures, photographers, agents, scouts, fashion executives, and women who moved between several agencies.
The evidence supports investigation of how Epstein obtained access to agencies and portfolios.
It does not support treating every agency employee, model, or executive as a trafficking participant.
The 2004 Elite Model Management Bid
One of the clearest documented business connections between Epstein and Zampolli arose in 2004.
Elite Model Management entered bankruptcy proceedings, and its assets were offered for sale.
Zampolli and Epstein participated in a bid to acquire the agency.
A contemporaneous British Vogue report stated that the winning bidder, Creative World, outbid an offer involving ID Models owner Paolo Zampolli and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Creative World was controlled by brothers Eddie and Jules Trump, who were not members of Donald Trump’s family.
The unsuccessful bid is significant because it moves the Zampolli and Epstein connection beyond incidental social proximity. They were aligned in an attempt to acquire a major international modeling agency.
The bid did not succeed.
It therefore does not establish that Zampolli and Epstein jointly controlled Elite, obtained its model records, or recruited models through the agency after the sale.
The available reporting also does not fully explain the proposed ownership structure, how much capital Epstein intended to contribute, or what operational role each bidder would have held.
Direct 2010 Communication
A September 2010 email provides evidence of material moving from Zampolli toward Epstein.
In EFTA02418453, an intermediary forwarded Epstein a message and wrote, “Paolo asked me to forward this to you.”
The forwarded material came from Zampolli and linked to a Haute Living article concerning a United Nations summit and gala reception.
The record establishes that Zampolli wanted the information sent to Epstein.
Because an intermediary forwarded the message, it should not automatically be represented as a direct email from Zampolli’s account to Epstein’s account.
The communication nevertheless demonstrates awareness, a channel of contact, and Zampolli’s interest in ensuring that Epstein received information about his United Nations activity.
Epstein’s 2011 Warning About Zampolli
In February 2011, Epstein warned Dubai Ports executive Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem about Zampolli.
In EFTA01836539, Epstein wrote:
Be careful, zampoli is trouble. Lots.
Bin Sulayem responded in EFTA01797755 that Zampolli had been pursuing him for dinner. He said he planned to bring his wife so he could be assured that Zampolli would take him to respectable places.
In EFTA02535652, Epstein explained his warning by writing that Zampolli sold stories to the press.
The thread establishes that Epstein knew Zampolli well enough to offer a specific reputational warning to another associate.
It also suggests distrust.
The exchange should not be described as proof of a close or harmonious friendship. The available evidence instead shows a relationship containing business contact, social awareness, and suspicion.
The warning appears in several duplicate productions, including EFTA00904519, EFTA00904526, EFTA00642627, EFTA00642630, EFTA01835898, EFTA01836156, EFTA01799057, EFTA01799399, EFTA02535595, EFTA02535717, EFTA02682858, EFTA02683027, EFTA02683192, and EFTA02683232.
These duplicates document the same underlying conversation and should not be counted as independent interactions.
Ghislaine Maxwell and the TerraMar Project
Independent researchers have published emails that they identify as communications between Zampolli and Ghislaine Maxwell concerning the TerraMar Project.
TerraMar was an ocean advocacy nonprofit created by Maxwell in 2012. It presented the high seas as a shared international territory and allowed supporters to register as symbolic citizens.
The project sought relationships with diplomats, environmental organizations, United Nations figures, and international institutions.
In Skeletons in the Diplomatic Closet, Bekah Day and collaborating researchers published communications reportedly obtained from Amanda Ungaro’s email archive.
According to the published material:
- Maxwell sent Zampolli information about TerraMar in July 2012.
- Zampolli forwarded TerraMar material to people involved in international ocean policy.
- Maxwell supplied Zampolli with TerraMar registration information and a symbolic passport number.
- Zampolli offered to assist TerraMar at the United Nations.
- Zampolli offered to act as a permanent United Nations representative for Maxwell’s project.
- One message referred to a company capable of producing “real passports” for several countries.
- Maxwell supplied direct telephone information and invited further contact.
The emails, if authentic and complete, establish direct communication and contemplated cooperation between Zampolli and Maxwell.
They do not establish that TerraMar issued government passports, that Zampolli created fraudulent documents, or that the communications involved trafficking.
The published emails did not originate from an identified EFTA production. The researchers said Ungaro recovered them from an account where she had received forwarded messages or had been copied on the original communications.
They should therefore be described as externally supplied communications whose provenance has been explained by the publishers but which have not been independently authenticated through a court finding.
TerraMar, the United Nations, and We Are The Oceans
Zampolli’s diplomatic and environmental work gave him access to United Nations officials and international ocean initiatives.
He served in diplomatic positions associated with the Commonwealth of Dominica and used the title Ambassador for Oceans and Seas.
Maxwell promoted TerraMar at the United Nations and through international environmental networks.
Zampolli later developed We Are The Oceans, an ocean education and advocacy initiative.
The existence of similar themes does not prove that We Are The Oceans was a legal continuation of TerraMar or that the organizations shared finances, directors, or confidential information.
The published emails are nevertheless important because they show Zampolli offering Maxwell access to diplomatic and policy networks that could increase TerraMar’s credibility.
Researchers should distinguish between:
- Verified public appearances involving ocean advocacy.
- Published private emails concerning TerraMar.
- Researcher theories about the intended purpose of the organization.
- Proven financial or corporate relationships.
Only the first two categories are presently supported by the records reviewed for this article.
Amanda Ungaro
Amanda Ungaro is a Brazilian former model and the mother of Zampolli’s son.
Ungaro has said that she began modeling internationally as a young teenager and was represented by Jean Luc Brunel before meeting Zampolli.
In 2026, Ungaro told journalists that she travelled aboard Epstein’s aircraft in 2002 while she was seventeen. She said Brunel brought her on the trip and that Epstein and Maxwell were present.
A released flight record, EFTA02796838, contains an Amanda entry associated with 2002 travel involving Epstein, Maxwell, Brunel, Henry Jarecki, Nicholas Jarecki, and other passengers.
The surviving passenger spelling is not completely clear. The record should therefore be paired with Ungaro’s personal account rather than treated as an unambiguous identification by itself.
Ungaro’s account is summarized in reporting by El País.
Her travel with Brunel and Epstein occurred before her long relationship with Zampolli.
The record does not establish that Zampolli arranged the flight, was present aboard the aircraft, or knew about the circumstances when the travel occurred.
Ungaro’s Relationship With Zampolli
Ungaro later became Zampolli’s partner and worked with him in diplomatic, social, and environmental initiatives.
They had a son and appeared together at United Nations functions, political events, receptions, and charity activities.
The relationship later ended in a contentious custody dispute.
In 2025, Ungaro was arrested in Florida in connection with allegations concerning unlicensed cosmetic procedures. She denied criminal wrongdoing. Immigration authorities subsequently detained and deported her to Brazil.
Reporting by The New York Times, republished by GV Wire, stated that Zampolli contacted a senior Immigration and Customs Enforcement official after learning of her detention.
Zampolli acknowledged contacting immigration officials but denied improperly influencing the process. The Department of Homeland Security denied political interference.
Ungaro has alleged that Zampolli used his political position against her during their custody dispute and has accused him of abuse. Zampolli has denied her allegations.
These disputes provide context for the source and potential motives surrounding some documents Ungaro supplied to researchers. They do not justify dismissing the documents without examination, nor do they establish that every allegation she made is true.
Each email, flight entry, legal filing, and personal account requires independent evaluation.
FashionTV and Michel Adam Lisowski
Zampolli maintained a long public relationship with FashionTV and its founder Michel Adam Lisowski.
FashionTV filmed or promoted Zampolli’s parties, diplomatic events, ocean initiatives, and appearances at international modeling competitions.
The Epstein connection is multilayered:
- Mucinska’s former husband Duncan Ross worked with FashionTV.
- Mucinska said Ross connected her with agents, including Zampolli.
- Epstein reportedly saw Mucinska’s portfolio at ID Models.
- Epstein explored acquiring FashionTV in 2010.
- Jean Luc Brunel contacted Lisowski as part of Epstein’s acquisition inquiry.
- Zampolli continued appearing at FashionTV events and modeling competitions.
The American Prospect documented these intersections and obtained responses from Zampolli.
Zampolli said Lisowski was an important pioneer in fashion media. He described his own appearances at FashionTV competitions as personal participation based on his earlier modeling career.
The network overlap is substantial, but it does not prove that Zampolli knew about every allegation involving Lisowski, Brunel, Epstein, or other FashionTV associates.
Another Epstein Email Mentioning a Social Encounter
EFTA02409353 contains an email received by Epstein in which the sender described joining a man named Paolo at Cipriani.
The sender described Paolo positively, referred to him as being forty eight, and mentioned coordinated Superman and Supergirl costumes.
Researchers have interpreted the reference as Zampolli because the name, age, Cipriani connection, and social context are consistent with him.
The page does not print Paolo’s surname.
It should therefore be described as a probable identification based on context rather than conclusive documentary identification.
The record proves that Epstein received the email. It does not establish that Zampolli sent it or knew Epstein would receive it.
Uncorroborated Emails Naming Zampolli
Several released records contain allegations about Zampolli from a sender whose communications appear distressed, accusatory, or difficult to verify.
EFTA01018595 includes Zampolli’s name within an email accusing multiple people of severe misconduct.
EFTA02619619 and EFTA02619777 contain related statements concerning Zampolli and a supposed deposition.
These records establish only that Epstein or his account received the communications.
They do not establish that the accusations were accurate, that the sender had personal knowledge, or that investigators corroborated them.
They should not be used as evidence that Zampolli committed murder, trafficking, or another offense.
ID Models Internal Dispute Record
EFTA00190081 contains reporting about a former ID Models booker who faced investigation for alleged computer interference and deletion of agency booking information.
The document shows that Epstein’s archive contained material concerning an internal ID Models dispute.
It does not establish that Epstein participated in the dispute or that the episode related to sexual exploitation.
It also does not establish misconduct by Zampolli unless a separate record connects him personally to a specific act.
This record is included for completeness but should not carry significant weight in assessing the Epstein relationship.
United Nations and Diplomatic Roles
Zampolli moved from modeling and real estate into environmental advocacy and diplomacy.
He was associated with the United Nations Association of Brazil and later held positions connected with the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Public descriptions of his diplomatic career have included Minister Counsellor, Ambassador, and Ambassador for Oceans and Seas.
These roles gave him access to diplomats, government officials, environmental organizations, celebrities, business executives, and United Nations events.
That access helps explain why Maxwell might have valued his assistance with TerraMar.
It does not establish that the United Nations approved Maxwell’s private conduct or knew the full history of her relationship with Epstein.
PassBlue’s profile of Zampolli’s United Nations role provides background on his diplomatic titles, social activities, and environmental work.
Trump Administration Appointments
In December 2020, President Donald Trump announced his intention to appoint Zampolli to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The appointment is documented in the archived White House announcement.
The Kennedy Center trustee list continued to identify Zampolli as a presidentially appointed trustee.
On March 11, 2025, President Trump appointed Zampolli as Special Envoy for Global Partnerships.
The appointment is recorded in the official 2025 Digest of White House Announcements.
United States embassy releases have since identified him as Special Envoy for Global Partnerships during overseas meetings and public events, including his work in Uzbekistan.
These appointments establish Zampolli’s current government role. They do not resolve the historical questions concerning ID Models, Epstein, Maxwell, TerraMar, or Ungaro.
Zampolli’s Public Denials
Zampolli has denied being closely associated with Epstein.
He has said that:
- Epstein did not introduce Donald Trump and Melania Knauss.
- He did not visit Epstein’s island.
- He did not participate in Epstein’s criminal conduct.
- Epstein’s visit to ID Models did not represent collaboration or endorsement.
- His contacts with people in Epstein’s broader network reflected ordinary modeling, social, environmental, or diplomatic relationships.
- He did not improperly influence Ungaro’s immigration case.
The direct documentary record does not prove an island visit or participation in sexual abuse.
It does, however, establish more than the appearance of Zampolli’s name in an address book.
The joint Elite bid, Epstein’s visit to ID Models, the forwarded 2010 communication, the 2011 warning, and the published Maxwell communications document several distinct points of contact.
A responsible account must preserve both conclusions.
The relationship was real and documentary.
The present public evidence does not establish Epstein related criminal liability.
What the Evidence Establishes
The available evidence establishes that:
- Zampolli founded and operated ID Model Management in New York.
- ID Models recruited and housed international models.
- At least two women who later entered Epstein’s environment had previously been connected with ID Models.
- Mucinska told the FBI that Zampolli helped arrange her move to New York for modeling.
- Mucinska said Epstein viewed her portfolio while visiting the ID Models office.
- Zampolli acknowledged that Epstein visited the agency.
- Zampolli denied that the visit represented collaboration or endorsement.
- Zampolli and Epstein participated in an unsuccessful bid to acquire Elite Model Management in 2004.
- An intermediary forwarded Epstein material from Zampolli in 2010 and said Zampolli had requested the forwarding.
- Epstein warned Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem about Zampolli in 2011.
- Epstein explained that he believed Zampolli sold stories to the press.
- The warning conversation survives in numerous duplicate productions.
- Externally supplied emails published by researchers show apparent direct communication between Zampolli and Maxwell about TerraMar.
- The published emails show Zampolli offering diplomatic and United Nations assistance to TerraMar.
- Ungaro has said that she travelled on Epstein’s aircraft as a teenage model before beginning her relationship with Zampolli.
- A 2002 flight record contains an Amanda entry, although the surviving passenger spelling requires corroboration.
- Zampolli maintained long standing relationships within the modeling, FashionTV, diplomatic, and New York social worlds that overlapped with Epstein and Maxwell.
- Zampolli currently holds a United States presidential appointment involving global partnerships.
- No publicly identified court judgment reviewed for this article found Zampolli liable for participating in Epstein’s trafficking operation.
- Zampolli is not publicly known to have been convicted of an Epstein related offense.
What the Evidence Does Not Establish
The available evidence does not establish that:
- Zampolli recruited a minor for Epstein.
- Zampolli arranged the coffee shop recruitment described in EFTA01245554.
- Zampolli sent that witness
Paolo Zampolli and Jeffrey Epstein
Snapshot
Paolo Zampolli is an Italian American businessman, former modeling agent, diplomat, and longtime associate of Donald Trump. He founded ID Model Management in New York, represented international models including Melania Knauss, and has long maintained that he introduced Knauss to Donald Trump at a 1998 party.
Zampolli’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is documented through FBI interview records, business reporting, emails received or sent by Epstein, and accounts supplied by former models and independent researchers.
The most significant documented connections are:
- Epstein visited the ID Models headquarters.
- An Epstein employee identified Zampolli as her modeling agent and told the FBI that Epstein saw her portfolio at the agency.
- Zampolli and Epstein participated in an unsuccessful 2004 bid to acquire Elite Model Management.
- Material from Zampolli was forwarded to Epstein at Zampolli’s request in 2010.
- Epstein discussed Zampolli with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem in 2011 and warned that Zampolli was “trouble,” later explaining that Zampolli sold stories to the press.
- Published correspondence supplied by Amanda Ungaro documents communications between Zampolli and Ghislaine Maxwell concerning the TerraMar Project.
- Zampolli’s former partner Amanda Ungaro has said she travelled on Epstein’s aircraft as a teenage model before meeting Zampolli.
- Independent reporting places Zampolli within fashion, diplomatic, environmental, and social networks that repeatedly overlapped with Epstein and Maxwell.
The available record does not establish that Zampolli participated in Epstein’s sexual abuse or knowingly recruited minors for him.
No publicly identified criminal charge or court judgment reviewed for this article found Zampolli criminally or civilly responsible for Epstein’s trafficking operation.
As of September 1, 2026, Zampolli is serving as the United States Special Envoy for Global Partnerships.
Identity and Early Career
Paolo Zampolli was born in Milan on March 5, 1970.
Accounts of his early career describe him as coming from a prosperous Italian family. After working in the fashion industry in Europe, he moved to New York and entered the international modeling business.
Zampolli has said that Elite Model Management founder John Casablancas encouraged his move into the American modeling industry after attending an event Zampolli organized in Ibiza.
Zampolli initially worked with Metropolitan Models. He later founded ID Model Management in New York.
His professional model was based on bringing international talent to the United States, arranging visas, supplying shared housing, developing portfolios, and introducing models to photographers, designers, advertisers, media figures, and wealthy social contacts.
Those functions made modeling agencies important gatekeepers. A young model arriving in New York might depend on the agency for immigration sponsorship, accommodation, employment, transportation, photographs, and access to the wider fashion industry.
That dependence did not make every agency or agent part of Epstein’s operation. It nevertheless created an environment that Epstein and other wealthy men could exploit to gain access to young women.
ID Model Management
ID Model Management operated from offices in the SoHo area of Manhattan.
The agency represented international models and maintained shared apartments where some models lived after arriving in New York. Models could accumulate debts for rent, photographs, transportation, and other expenses before receiving substantial paid work.
Zampolli experimented with presenting models’ daily lives as entertainment. His ModelLife project placed cameras in an apartment occupied by ID Models clients and made portions of their private lives part of the agency’s promotional material.
The agency became well known partly through Zampolli’s cultivation of newspapers, nightclubs, luxury businesses, celebrities, and wealthy social contacts.
Epstein was one of the affluent men who gained access to this environment.
In a response published by The American Prospect, Zampolli acknowledged that Epstein visited the ID Models headquarters. Zampolli rejected suggestions that the visit represented collaboration, endorsement, or participation in Epstein’s conduct.
That distinction is important. The acknowledged visit establishes access. It does not by itself establish the purpose of every visit or prove that Zampolli knew Epstein was exploiting women.
Melania Knauss and Donald Trump
Zampolli has long said that he helped bring Slovenian model Melania Knauss to New York and sponsored her H1B work visa.
Knauss worked through ID Model Management and lived in the same Union Square building as Zampolli.
Zampolli also says that he introduced Knauss to Donald Trump during a September 1998 party at the Kit Kat Club in New York.
That version appears in Melania Trump’s public account of the meeting. Zampolli repeated it in 2026 while rejecting claims that Epstein introduced the couple.
Zampolli offered to testify before Congress that he, rather than Epstein, arranged the introduction. He described suggestions of an Epstein introduction as false and denied that Melania Trump had a meaningful relationship with Epstein.
The public record establishes that Zampolli was Knauss’s modeling agent and was present within the social environment in which she met Trump.
It does not conclusively resolve every competing account of who first introduced whom or whether Knauss encountered Epstein at a separate event.
Epstein’s connection to Zampolli must therefore be evaluated independently from unproven claims about Melania Trump.
Jeffrey Epstein’s Access to the Modeling Industry
Epstein cultivated relationships with modeling agents, photographers, media executives, fashion businesses, models, and young women seeking modeling work.
His best documented modeling relationship involved Jean Luc Brunel, who operated agencies including Karin Models and MC2 Model Management.
The record also places Epstein within the environment surrounding Elite Model Management, FashionTV, ID Models, and several agency apartments.
The fact that Epstein visited a modeling office does not prove that the agency operated as part of his trafficking enterprise. The evidentiary question is whether a particular agency or individual knowingly recruited, transported, housed, or supplied victims for him.
In Zampolli’s case, the released records establish agency access and business contact. They do not presently establish a knowing agreement to supply minors or trafficking victims.
Adriana Mucinska and the ID Models Office
One of the most significant links between Zampolli and Epstein comes from statements attributed to Adriana Mucinska, who was also known as Adriana Ross.
Mucinska worked for Epstein as an assistant and scheduler before his 2008 conviction. She was named as a potential co conspirator in Epstein’s federal non prosecution agreement but was not charged.
According to The American Prospect’s examination of FBI materials, Mucinska told investigators that her then husband, Duncan Ross, connected her with modeling agents including Zampolli.
The report states that Zampolli organized her move to New York for modeling work. She lived with other models in a Varick Street apartment near the ID Models office.
The FBI notes further indicate that Epstein saw a topless photograph in Mucinska’s portfolio while examining models at Zampolli’s office. She subsequently met Epstein socially and later went to his Manhattan residence.
Mucinska said she rebuffed a sexual advance from Epstein during that visit. She later abandoned her modeling career and worked for him in Florida.
The relevant handwritten interview collection is EFTA00105195.
The handwriting is difficult to interpret, and portions carry protective order markings. The document should therefore be described as interview or proffer notes rather than a verbatim transcript.
In response to questions about Mucinska, Zampolli said ID Models had represented many international models and that he did not necessarily remember every person represented by the agency.
He acknowledged that Epstein visited the headquarters but categorically rejected any suggestion that this represented collaboration or endorsement.
The evidence establishes that Epstein obtained access to Mucinska’s portfolio at the ID Models office. It does not, without additional evidence, establish that Zampolli knew Epstein would make a sexual advance or later employ her.
A Separate FBI Record Concerning an ID Models Client
Another released FBI interview record concerns a survivor who had previously worked through ID Model Management.
EFTA01245554 records that the witness began modeling as a minor, worked through Elite Model Management, and signed with ID Models when she was approximately eighteen.
She lived in an agency apartment on Varick Street with other models.
The witness described Zampolli negatively, said that he dated models, and recalled that he instructed her to cut her hair before the agency released her.
After leaving ID Models, she worked at a coffee shop near Union Square.
The record then describes a separate event. An unidentified blonde woman with an Eastern European accent approached the witness at the coffee shop and offered her massage work for Epstein.
The witness later reported sexual abuse by Epstein.
This document does not say that Zampolli personally introduced the witness to Epstein, sent the recruiter, or arranged the massage appointment.
The sequence establishes that an eventual Epstein survivor had previously worked through Zampolli’s agency and lived in agency housing. It does not establish that ID Models caused her recruitment into Epstein’s operation.
Alternative productions of the same interview include EFTA00086883 and EFTA00173834.
These are duplicate or parallel versions of the same underlying account rather than three independent witnesses.
The 2004 Elite Model Management Bid
One of the clearest business connections between Epstein and Zampolli concerns the attempted acquisition of Elite Model Management.
Elite entered bankruptcy proceedings following financial and reputational problems.
In 2004, Zampolli and Epstein participated in an unsuccessful effort to acquire the agency.
British Vogue reported that they were outbid by Creative World, a company controlled by Eddie and Jules Trump. Eddie and Jules Trump are not members of Donald Trump’s immediate family.
The acquisition would have given the successful buyer control over a major international modeling brand, its contracts, business relationships, and access to models.
The bid demonstrates that Epstein and Zampolli were willing to pursue a substantial modeling industry transaction together.
It does not establish why Epstein wanted the agency or that the proposed acquisition had a criminal purpose.
The attempted purchase is more significant than an address book entry or incidental social meeting because it documents contemplated joint commercial activity.
The September 2010 Forwarded Message
EFTA02418453 preserves a September 2010 email exchange involving Zampolli related material.
An intermediary told Epstein that “Paolo” had asked that the material be forwarded to him.
The forwarded message originated with Paolo Zampolli and linked to coverage of a summit and gala reception involving Zampolli’s United Nations related activities.
The record establishes that material from Zampolli was intentionally transmitted to Epstein at Zampolli’s request.
Because the surviving message was forwarded through an intermediary, it should not automatically be described as a direct email from Zampolli to Epstein.
The distinction does not eliminate its significance. The message confirms purposeful communication and an interest in keeping Epstein informed about Zampolli’s public activities in 2010.
Epstein’s 2011 Warning About Zampolli
On February 15, 2011, Epstein sent a message to Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem concerning Zampolli.
In EFTA01836539, Epstein wrote:
“Be careful, zampoli is trouble. Lots.”
Bin Sulayem replied that Zampolli had repeatedly attempted to arrange dinner. The response is preserved in EFTA01797755.
Bin Sulayem said that he would bring his wife so that he could be assured Zampolli would take him to respectable places.
Epstein then explained his warning. In EFTA02535652, he wrote that Zampolli sold stories to the press.
The exchange establishes several points:
- Epstein knew Zampolli well enough to warn another powerful contact about him.
- Zampolli was attempting to arrange a social meeting with Bin Sulayem.
- Epstein considered Zampolli a reputational or media risk.
- Epstein’s surviving explanation concerned press disclosures rather than trafficking or sexual conduct.
The warning should not be converted into evidence that Epstein was accusing Zampolli of a crime.
The thread also complicates any portrayal of the men as consistently close or trusting partners. Their relationship included business contact and overlapping networks, but Epstein expressed distrust.
Duplicate productions of the warning thread include EFTA00904519, EFTA00904526, EFTA00642627, EFTA00642630, EFTA01835898, EFTA01836156, EFTA01799057, EFTA01799399, EFTA02535595, EFTA02535717, EFTA02682858, EFTA02683027, EFTA02683192, and EFTA02683232.
These records reproduce parts of the same communication and should not be counted as independent incidents.
Ghislaine Maxwell and the TerraMar Project
The TerraMar Project was an ocean conservation organization founded by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2012.
Maxwell promoted the project through international conferences, universities, media appearances, and United Nations events.
Independent researcher Bekah Day published emails supplied by Amanda Ungaro that document communications between Maxwell and Zampolli concerning TerraMar.
In Skeletons in the Diplomatic Closet, Day reports that Maxwell sent Zampolli information about TerraMar in July 2012.
Zampolli forwarded material to people involved in international ocean and development policy and described TerraMar as a new country.
Additional published messages reportedly show that:
- Maxwell invited Zampolli to register with TerraMar.
- Maxwell supplied TerraMar account credentials and a project passport number.
- Zampolli offered to help Maxwell within the United Nations environment.
- Zampolli proposed serving as a permanent United Nations representative for the project.
- A message attributed to Zampolli referred to a company that could produce “real passports” for multiple countries.
- Maxwell supplied Zampolli with direct telephone numbers and discussed possible meetings.
These messages were not identified as EFTA documents within the Justice Department production reviewed for this article.
Day states that the emails came from an account to which Ungaro had lawful access because she had received or been copied on the communications.
The published images are important investigative evidence, but their provenance differs from a government produced FBI record. Their metadata, complete headers, and original account data should be preserved and independently authenticated if used in litigation.
The TerraMar communications establish a relationship between Zampolli and Maxwell that extended beyond attending the same social gathering.
They do not, by themselves, prove that TerraMar was created to support Epstein’s sexual offenses.
TerraMar and United Nations Access
Zampolli’s diplomatic and United Nations relationships could provide Maxwell with access to officials, conference spaces, environmental organizations, and representatives of island nations.
Published reporting states that Zampolli helped create opportunities for Maxwell to promote TerraMar in United Nations settings.
This institutional access had reputational value. It allowed Maxwell to present herself as an environmental advocate and international organizer after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
Zampolli later created or promoted We Are The Oceans, another ocean education and conservation initiative.
The similarity of subject matter has led researchers to examine whether personnel, relationships, or ideas moved from TerraMar into Zampolli’s later environmental work.
The available public record does not establish that We Are The Oceans legally succeeded TerraMar or assumed its liabilities.
TerraMar ceased operations after Epstein’s July 2019 arrest.
Amanda Ungaro
Amanda Ungaro is a Brazilian former model and the mother of Zampolli’s son.
Ungaro has said she began traveling internationally for modeling work while young and later worked with Jean Luc Brunel.
She has publicly stated that she travelled on Epstein’s aircraft in 2002 while still a teenager.
Ungaro described Epstein, Maxwell, Brunel, and numerous young women being present during the journey. She has said that she found the circumstances disturbing and that some of the girls appeared younger than she was.
A released aircraft record, EFTA02796838, includes an Amanda entry among passengers associated with Epstein, Maxwell, Brunel, Henry Jarecki, and Nicholas Jarecki during 2002 travel.
The passenger surname is not rendered clearly in the surviving index. The record should therefore be combined with Ungaro’s own account before identifying the passenger as her.
The flight record does not place Zampolli on that journey.
Ungaro later entered a long relationship with Zampolli. The couple had a son and appeared together at diplomatic, political, and social events.
Her earlier proximity to Epstein is relevant because she later became part of Zampolli’s personal and diplomatic environment. It does not prove that Zampolli arranged her original Epstein related travel.
Ungaro’s Later Allegations
Following the breakdown of their relationship, Ungaro made serious allegations against Zampolli concerning domestic abuse, sexual abuse, financial control, immigration, passports, United Nations activities, and the custody of their son.
Zampolli has denied her abuse allegations.
Ungaro was detained in Florida in 2025 after an arrest connected with alleged unlicensed medical or cosmetic procedures. She was subsequently taken into immigration custody and deported to Brazil.
Reporting by The New York Times, republished by GV Wire, El País, and People states that Zampolli contacted a senior Immigration and Customs Enforcement official after learning of her detention.
Zampolli acknowledged making contact but denied improper interference. Federal officials denied that political influence controlled the immigration decision.
Ungaro maintains that Zampolli wanted her deported to improve his position in their custody dispute.
The documented contact with an immigration official is separate from the disputed question of whether that contact improperly changed the outcome.
Ungaro has also made allegations concerning passport sales and corruption within Zampolli’s United Nations network. Tampa Bay Times reporting describes those claims.
Those allegations have not been established by a court judgment reviewed for this article.
They should not be treated as proven merely because Ungaro had access to some of Zampolli’s communications.
FashionTV and Michel Adam Lisowski
Zampolli maintained a long relationship with FashionTV founder Michel Adam Lisowski.
FashionTV recorded and promoted Zampolli’s parties, diplomatic events, modeling competitions, and environmental activities.
Zampolli also appeared with Lisowski at international FashionTV events and served as a judge at modeling competitions in Romania and Turkey.
Epstein separately explored the possible acquisition of FashionTV in 2010.
According to The American Prospect, Epstein instructed Jean Luc Brunel to approach Lisowski about a possible sale to investors.
The proposed purchase did not occur.
The FashionTV evidence demonstrates another overlapping commercial and social network involving Epstein, Brunel, Zampolli, models, pageants, media executives, and international travel.
It does not establish that Zampolli participated in the separate misconduct alleged against other FashionTV figures.
Zampolli told The American Prospect that his appearances at FashionTV events were personal and reflected his earlier career as a fashion executive and modeling agent.
Other Social References in the Epstein Archive
EFTA02409353 contains an email received by Epstein in which the writer described joining someone named Paolo at Cipriani and referred to his age and social activities.
Independent researchers have interpreted the Paolo reference as Zampolli based on age, location, and surrounding relationships.
The page itself does not provide Paolo’s surname.
It should therefore be described as a possible Zampolli reference rather than an independently conclusive identification.
Several document collections also reproduce society reporting about Zampolli, ID Models, parties, nightlife, and wealthy contacts.
These references help establish his public social profile. They do not necessarily document personal interaction with Epstein.
Uncorroborated Accusations Received by Epstein
Some released files contain accusations about Zampolli written by distressed or unreliable correspondents.
EFTA01018595 contains an email sent to Epstein that accuses numerous people, including Zampolli, of extreme criminal conduct.
The message supplies no reliable corroboration.
Related documents include EFTA01018591, EFTA01018593, EFTA02618674, and EFTA02618736.
Other messages from a similar correspondence set include EFTA02619619 and EFTA02619777.
These documents establish only that Epstein received the communications.
They do not establish that the accusations were true, that Epstein accepted them, or that investigators corroborated them.
They should not be used as a basis for accusing Zampolli of a crime.
Corporate and Diplomatic Career
Zampolli later moved from modeling into real estate, diplomacy, environmental advocacy, and international relationship building.
He briefly worked in international development for the Trump Organization and was associated with sales at Trump Park Avenue.
He later created a real estate business using models and former modeling contacts as sales representatives.
Zampolli developed relationships with representatives of island nations and international organizations.
He served in diplomatic positions connected with the Commonwealth of Dominica, including roles involving oceans and seas.
He also cultivated relationships with officials connected to Grenada, international development organizations, ocean policy initiatives, and United Nations partnerships.
These positions explain why Maxwell viewed him as a potentially useful TerraMar contact.
Diplomatic status does not itself establish criminal or improper activity. The relevant question is how the access was used in each documented transaction.
Trump Administration Positions
On December 22, 2020, the White House announced its intention to appoint Zampolli to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The Kennedy Center trustee list continues to identify him as a presidentially appointed member.
On March 11, 2025, President Donald Trump appointed Zampolli as Special Envoy for Global Partnerships. The appointment is recorded in the official Digest of White House Announcements.
United States embassy releases document Zampolli acting in that capacity during international meetings and public events, including activities in Uzbekistan and Oman.
The government appointment increases the public interest in accurately documenting his earlier relationships.
It does not alter the evidentiary meaning of Epstein records or convert allegations into proven facts.
Zampolli’s Public Response
Zampolli has denied being a close Epstein associate and has rejected suggestions that he participated in Epstein’s criminal activity.
He has said that Epstein moved within the fashion industry and visited the ID Models office but denied collaboration or endorsement.
Zampolli has also denied visiting Epstein’s island.
He maintains that he, not Epstein, introduced Donald Trump and Melania Knauss.
His response to the Mucinska evidence was that ID Models represented many people and that an agency owner would not necessarily remember every model.
His acknowledgment that Epstein visited the agency is important because it confirms physical access while disputing the inference that the visit represented a partnership.
His denials should be presented alongside the joint Elite bid, the FBI notes, the 2010 forwarded message, the 2011 email thread, and the published Maxwell correspondence.
What the Evidence Establishes
The available evidence establishes that:
- Zampolli founded and operated ID Model Management in New York.
- His agency represented young international models and maintained shared model housing.
- Melania Knauss worked through ID Models.
- Zampolli says he introduced Knauss to Donald Trump in 1998.
- Epstein visited the ID Models headquarters.
- Adriana Mucinska identified Zampolli as one of her modeling agents.
- FBI notes indicate that Epstein viewed Mucinska’s portfolio at the ID Models office.
- Mucinska later worked for Epstein.
- A separate Epstein survivor had previously worked through ID Models and lived in its Varick Street housing.
- That separate survivor was approached by an unidentified recruiter after leaving ID Models.
- Zampolli and Epstein participated in an unsuccessful 2004 bid to acquire Elite Model Management.
- Material from Zampolli was forwarded to Epstein at Zampolli’s request in 2010.
- Epstein warned Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem about Zampolli in 2011.
- Epstein explained that he believed Zampolli sold stories to the press.
- Published emails supplied by Amanda Ungaro document communications between Zampolli and Maxwell concerning TerraMar.
- Zampolli offered to help TerraMar within the United Nations environment, according to those published communications.
- Amanda Ungaro says she travelled on Epstein’s aircraft as a teenage model before beginning her relationship with Zampolli.
- Zampolli maintained long relationships with FashionTV and Michel Adam Lisowski.
- Epstein separately attempted to pursue a FashionTV acquisition.
- Zampolli served in diplomatic and United Nations related positions that could provide access to international officials.
- Zampolli was appointed to the Kennedy Center board in 2020.
- Zampolli became United States Special Envoy for Global Partnerships in March 2025.
- Zampolli denies participating in Epstein’s conduct and rejects descriptions of their relationship as a close criminal or business association.
What the Evidence Does Not Establish
The available evidence does not establish that:
- Zampolli sexually abused an Epstein victim.
- Zampolli knowingly recruited a minor for Epstein.
- ID Model Management operated as part of Epstein’s trafficking organization.
- Every model represented by ID Models met Epstein.
- Zampolli arranged the coffee shop recruitment described in EFTA01245554.
- Zampolli knew Epstein would make a sexual advance toward Mucinska.
- The failed Elite acquisition had a criminal purpose.
- Every proposed business transaction between Epstein and Zampolli was completed.
- Epstein’s warning that Zampolli was “trouble” referred to sexual misconduct.
- Every “Paolo” reference in the Epstein archive identifies Zampolli.
- Every accusation contained in an email received by Epstein was credible.
- TerraMar was created to support sexual trafficking.
- We Are The Oceans was legally or operationally identical to TerraMar.
- The published TerraMar emails are part of the official EFTA production.
- Amanda Ungaro’s allegations against Zampolli have all been judicially established.
- Zampolli’s contact with an immigration official necessarily determined Ungaro’s deportation.
- Zampolli visited Epstein’s island.
- Zampolli has been convicted of an Epstein related offense.
- A person’s appearance in an Epstein related document proves participation in a crime.
- Government or diplomatic appointments constitute findings about the underlying Epstein evidence.
Investigative Assessment
Zampolli was not merely an incidental name in Epstein’s records.
The documentary pattern includes a proposed joint acquisition, Epstein’s presence at Zampolli’s modeling office, an eventual Epstein employee whose portfolio was viewed there, a forwarded communication requested by Zampolli, social discussions with mutual contacts, and published correspondence with Maxwell.
Those records justify describing Zampolli as a documented Epstein contact whose modeling and diplomatic networks overlapped with both Epstein and Maxwell.
The modeling agency evidence deserves particular attention because Epstein repeatedly used the fashion industry to obtain access to young women.
The present public record nevertheless stops short of proving that Zampolli knowingly supplied Epstein with minors or trafficking victims.
The strongest characterization supported by the evidence is that Zampolli was a modeling, social, commercial, and diplomatic network contact whose institutions supplied Epstein with access opportunities.
Whether that access involved knowing facilitation remains unresolved.
Any stronger conclusion should identify the specific witness, document, communication, or adjudicated finding supporting it.
