Howard Lutnick Transcript: Epstein Neighbor, Island Visit, AdFin Emails, and the Gaps Congress Did Not Close
Snapshot
Howard Lutnick appeared voluntarily for a transcribed interview before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on May 6, 2026. The Committee released the transcript on May 13, 2026, along with the Ted Waitt transcript, as part of its investigation into the federal government response to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. House Oversight Committee release
The transcript matters because Lutnick was Epstein’s next door neighbor in New York, later visited Little Saint James with his family in 2012, appeared in Epstein related documents, and was questioned by Congress about later emails, AdFin Solutions, philanthropic overlap, public statements, and whether his prior comments about Epstein were incomplete. Why This Transcript Matters
The Lutnick transcript is important because it shows how a powerful public figure described his Epstein contact under questioning, and how that description compares with the evidence files. Lutnick repeatedly framed his Epstein interactions as limited, meaningless, and inconsequential. He testified that he did not have a personal or professional relationship with Epstein, despite acknowledging three in person contacts, one 2012 island visit, a 2018 email exchange about AdFin, and several Epstein file documents connecting Epstein’s office to Lutnick related events or contacts.
For EpsteinWiki, the key issue is not whether Lutnick committed a crime. This article does not claim that. The key issue is how elite proximity worked. The transcript shows a pattern that appears across the Epstein record again and again. People described Epstein as someone they avoided, but the documents often show later contact, shared circles, donor overlap, staff channels, business documents, or social access that deserve careful public scrutiny.

The Three Interactions Lutnick Acknowledged
Lutnick’s testimony centered on three in person contacts with Epstein. First, he described a 2005 coffee visit at Epstein’s New York townhouse shortly after Lutnick and his family moved next door. He said Epstein showed him and his wife a room with a massage table, made a comment that Lutnick interpreted as sexual, and that he and his wife left shortly after.
Second, Lutnick described a 2011 visit to Epstein’s foyer. He testified that Epstein’s staff tried to arrange a call, that a meeting was set up while Lutnick and his wife were walking their dogs, and that he sat in Epstein’s foyer with his dog while Epstein spoke to him about what Lutnick remembered as a scaffolding issue.
Third, Lutnick described the December 2012 Little Saint James visit. He said he went for lunch with his wife, children, another family, and staff. He described the lunch as boring and said they left after eating. He testified that he did not see young women, girls, sexual images, video cameras, or anything unusual.
The Island Visit Evidence
The island visit is one of the most important evidence points in the transcript because Lutnick described the invitation as unsettling and hard to explain. The Epstein Data record gives more detail.
EFTA00399296 shows Epstein’s assistant Lesley Groff writing to Lutnick’s office in November 2012, saying Epstein understood Lutnick would be down in St Thomas and wanted to pass along contact numbers so the two could possibly get together.
EFTA01910312 shows the later December 2012 email chain. In that chain, Lutnick wrote to Epstein, addressed him as Jeff, said he was landing in St Thomas, asked for Epstein’s exact location for his captain, suggested Sunday evening dinner, and identified the other family and the ages of the children traveling with them. Epstein replied with Little Saint James location language and suggested Saturday or Sunday lunch. Lutnick then agreed to Sunday lunch.
That does not prove misconduct during the lunch. It does show the visit was actively coordinated through direct communications and staff channels. That matters because Lutnick’s testimony repeatedly used words like meaningless, inconsequential, unsettling, and inexplicable to describe the contact.
The Post Lunch Email
The December 24, 2012 email is especially important because it came the morning after the Little Saint James visit. In EFTA00398744, Lesley Groff forwarded a message from Epstein to be sent to Lutnick. Epstein wrote that it was nice seeing him and told him to read a specific section of an attachment named TopTenDB.pdf.
This document does not reveal the full substance of the attachment on the public page. It does show that the contact did not end cleanly at a supposedly boring lunch. Epstein followed up the next morning with a document.
AdFin Solutions and the 2018 Email Exchange
AdFin was another major focus of the transcript. Lutnick testified that AdFin Solutions was a company trying to create an exchange for online ads. He denied being a personal investor, but confirmed that Cantor Fitzgerald was an investor.
EFTA00289560 is the AdFin Solutions Series A Preferred Stock Purchase Agreement dated December 28, 2012. During the interview, committee counsel asked Lutnick about Epstein and Lutnick appearing as signatories to the agreement. Lutnick testified that he did not know Epstein was also a signatory when the agreement was signed.
EFTA01050772 shows that Epstein emailed Lutnick directly on May 28, 2018, asking what he thought AdFin’s prospects were. Lutnick replied that AdFin was producing revenue and that the next 12 months would matter. That same email thread also shifted into discussion of the Pierre and Epstein asking when he could buy a guest house.
The point is not that AdFin proves criminal conduct. It does not. The point is that it complicates Lutnick’s public framing of Epstein contact as purely accidental, meaningless, or limited to neighborly awkwardness.
Philanthropy and Social Proximity
The transcript also covered philanthropic and political overlap. Lutnick denied directing John Paulson to invite Epstein to a UJA Wall Street Dinner honoring him, and denied soliciting Epstein’s donation.
EFTA00462552 shows the invitation forwarded to Epstein. The message says the event would honor Howard W Lutnick and Lee Fixel, and it says Epstein was being contacted as a close friend of the Lutnicks. That phrase appears to be John Paulson’s characterization, not Lutnick’s statement.
The distinction matters. The document does not prove Lutnick personally invited Epstein. It does show that at least one powerful figure in that donor world understood Epstein to be close enough to the Lutnicks to be asked to support an event honoring Lutnick.
The Nanny Resume
The staffing connection is another unresolved document. EFTA01141828 shows Richard Kahn forwarding Epstein a resume that he described as the resume of a Lutnick nanny. The email says Kahn was trying to arrange a time through Peter for Epstein to meet her.
During the transcript, Lutnick testified that he had no knowledge of the resume being sent and said he did not encourage any nanny employed by him to contact Epstein. The file does not prove the nanny met Epstein, was hired by Epstein, or had any role in Epstein’s crimes. It does show another staff related channel that Congress was right to ask about.
FBI Tip Records and What They Do Not Prove
The FBI records involving Lutnick need careful wording. EFTA00020515 shows an FBI National Threat Operations Center intake record from October 19, 2020. The caller reported information about Howard Lutnick and Cantor Fitzgerald, including financial allegations and claims about charity activity.
Those are allegations recorded in an intake file. They are not proof that Lutnick or Cantor Fitzgerald committed crimes. EFTA00173881 is important because it says an intake interview related to allegations against Howard Lutnick did not result in the FBI opening an investigation.
For EpsteinWiki, the record is still relevant because it shows that Lutnick’s name appeared in FBI handling connected to the Epstein case, even where the record itself does not establish wrongdoing.
The Podcast Problem
A major part of the interview involved Lutnick’s earlier public comments. On the podcast discussed in the transcript, Lutnick described Epstein as disgusting, said he was one and done, speculated about blackmail, and speculated about video. Under questioning, Lutnick said the blackmail and video comments were speculation, not based on direct knowledge.
That matters because public statements often become simplified into mythology. The transcript narrows the record. Lutnick said he had no direct knowledge of blackmail, no recordings, and no evidence that Epstein recorded people. He also testified that his one and done phrasing was meant to express that he avoided Epstein and did not form a relationship, not that there were literally no later contacts.
What This Article Does Not Claim
This article does not claim that Howard Lutnick participated in Epstein’s crimes. It does not claim that he witnessed abuse. It does not claim that the Little Saint James lunch involved misconduct. It does not claim that AdFin was criminal. It does not claim that every Epstein file reference involving Lutnick is proof of wrongdoing.
This article does document that Lutnick’s testimony and the evidence files should be read together. The transcript shows his explanation. The Epstein Data files show emails, invitations, investor documents, staff related contact, and FBI intake material that place his Epstein proximity in a broader documentary context.
Key Takeaways
- Lutnick’s testimony presents his Epstein contact as limited to three in person interactions, but the documentary record shows more related contact through emails, staff, philanthropy, and business documents.
- The 2005 coffee visit is important because Lutnick testified that Epstein made a sexualized comment near a massage table and that the encounter caused him to avoid Epstein.
- The 2012 Little Saint James visit is important because Lutnick brought family and friends to Epstein’s island after Epstein’s 2008 Florida plea.
- The island email chain in EFTA01910312 shows direct coordination between Lutnick and Epstein, including travel logistics and guest details.
- The post lunch email in EFTA00398744 shows Epstein followed up the day after the island visit with a document attachment.
- The AdFin agreement in EFTA00289560 and the 2018 AdFin email in EFTA01050772 make the business contact question more complicated than casual neighbor contact.
- The UJA invitation in EFTA00462552 shows Epstein was approached as someone considered close to the Lutnicks by John Paulson, even though Lutnick denied inviting him.
- The nanny resume file in EFTA01141828 raises an unresolved staffing question, but it does not prove the nanny met Epstein or worked for him.
- The FBI intake records involving Lutnick document allegations and vetting references, but they do not prove the allegations.
- The transcript is valuable because it captures the gap between public distancing language and the paper trail of elite proximity.
