Virginia Giuffre remembered meeting Al and Tipper Gore while Jeffrey Epstein introduced her as his travelling masseuse. Gore said he never knew Epstein. Maxwell said the dinner could not have happened on the island. The documentary record leaves one encounter, two telephone numbers, and a location no witness can conclusively establish.
Virginia Giuffre remembered Al Gore because he seemed different from the other powerful men moving through Jeffrey Epstein’s world.
She recalled Gore sitting with his wife, Tipper, at a dinner. Rather than paying attention to the spectacle around him, Gore appeared entirely focused on his wife. Giuffre described him as a wonderful man and remembered the Gores as a beautiful couple.
Epstein, she said, introduced her as his travelling masseuse.
That harmless sounding title concealed a brutal reality. Giuffre was a teenager whom Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell had groomed, controlled, sexually abused, and transported through an international network. The important question is not merely whether Gore attended a dinner. It is whether he understood who the teenage girl presented to him really was.
Giuffre never accused Gore of touching her, requesting a massage, participating in sexual activity, or knowingly witnessing abuse. When questioned under oath, she said she had met him only once and could not identify him as a witness to sexual abuse.
She also could not reliably remember where the meeting occurred.
Her manuscript placed the dinner during travel in the Caribbean. Her later deposition acknowledged that it might have happened on Epstein’s island, but it could just as easily have occurred in New York.
Almost everyone else connected to the alleged encounter denied that it happened as initially described.
Gore said he did not know Epstein and never visited his properties. Maxwell testified that neither she nor Epstein knew Gore. Epstein wrote that he had never met him. The managers of Little St. James said they never saw Al or Tipper Gore on the island.
Yet Epstein’s contact book reportedly contained two telephone numbers for Gore. A 2013 email sent to Epstein also said Gore had “signed on” to an unidentified project or event.
The available record does not establish an Epstein friendship, island visit, flight, financial relationship, or crime. It does leave a narrow but unresolved question: where did Giuffre meet the Gores, and why did she understand them to be part of Epstein’s social world?

Before the Epstein Files
Albert Arnold Gore Jr. was born into a political family on March 31, 1948.
His father, Albert Gore Sr., represented Tennessee in the United States House and Senate. His mother, Pauline LaFon Gore, was one of the first women to graduate from Vanderbilt University Law School.
Gore attended Harvard University, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and later worked as a reporter for The Tennessean.
He entered the House of Representatives in 1977 and moved to the Senate in 1985. Bill Clinton selected Gore as his running mate in 1992.
Gore served as vice president throughout the Clinton administration. His public portfolio included technology, government efficiency, environmental policy, arms control, and international affairs.
After losing the disputed 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush, Gore developed a second career involving climate advocacy, media, technology, and investment.
His documentary An Inconvenient Truth helped turn climate change into a mainstream political issue. Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Political, scientific, investment, and environmental institutions became central to his post government career. Epstein cultivated many of the same worlds.
Shared access to an institution does not prove a personal relationship. It does explain why Gore’s name appears in political articles, academic correspondence, guest lists, and event materials preserved among the Epstein files.
Tipper Gore
Mary Elizabeth “Tipper” Gore married Al Gore in 1970.
She served as second lady of the United States during Gore’s vice presidency. Her public work included mental health, homelessness, children’s issues, and music labeling through the Parents Music Resource Center.
The Gores announced their separation in 2010.
Tipper is not a peripheral figure in Giuffre’s account. Giuffre remembered meeting the couple together. Her most vivid memory was the affection Gore appeared to show his wife.
Giuffre did not accuse Tipper Gore of sexual activity, recruitment, or participation in abuse. When asked whether Tipper had witnessed sexual abuse, Giuffre said not to her knowledge.
Receipt One: Two Telephone Numbers in Epstein’s Contact Book
Al Gore reportedly appears in Epstein’s contact book with two telephone numbers.
The entry is relevant because Epstein’s contact books were working directories containing information for politicians, financiers, academics, entertainers, employees, pilots, models, survivors, household staff, and service providers.
The books were not “client lists.”
An entry proves only that someone maintaining the directory possessed information associated with that person.
What the entry could contain
Without publishing private telephone information, the numbers could have belonged to:
- A Senate or vice presidential office
- A public switchboard
- A campaign office
- Gore’s private office
- A staff member
- A residence
- An organization associated with Gore
- An outdated or copied directory entry
What the entry establishes
Epstein’s records contained two numbers labeled for Al Gore.
What it does not establish
The entry does not establish:
- That Gore personally provided the numbers
- That Gore knew Epstein had them
- That Epstein called Gore
- That Gore called Epstein
- That the men met privately
- That Gore visited an Epstein property
- That Gore was an Epstein client
- That Gore knew about Epstein’s abuse
Telephone records, call logs, messages, and staff testimony would be needed to determine whether the numbers were ever used.
Receipt Two: Virginia Giuffre Says She Met Gore Once
During litigation involving Ghislaine Maxwell and Alan Dershowitz, attorneys questioned Giuffre about prominent people she had encountered.
Giuffre was asked how many times she met Gore.
Her answer was clear: once.
She did not describe repeated visits, travel, private appointments, massages, or telephone calls.
When asked about the circumstances, Giuffre said the details had become hazy with time. She nevertheless remembered Gore’s behavior toward his wife.
Forbes’ review of the unsealed deposition preserves the relevant questioning from Attachment 1335 3 in Giuffre v. Maxwell.
Giuffre described Gore as a wonderful man who appeared absorbed in his wife. Her memory contains no allegation that he behaved sexually toward her.
Receipt Three: Epstein Introduced Giuffre as His Travelling Masseuse
In her account of life inside Epstein’s network, Giuffre described meeting famous people, including Gore, Naomi Campbell, and Heidi Klum.
She said Epstein introduced her as his travelling masseuse.
That title was part of the camouflage surrounding Epstein’s operation.
Giuffre was not simply an independent massage professional traveling with a wealthy employer. She was a teenager under Epstein and Maxwell’s control.
Epstein’s use of the title could accomplish several things at once:
- Conceal Giuffre’s exploitation
- Explain why a teenage girl accompanied him
- Make her appear to be an employee
- Normalize her presence around powerful adults
- Provide an innocent explanation for private access
- Protect Epstein from uncomfortable questions
The phrase does not establish what Gore knew.
A person hearing it might reasonably believe Giuffre was an employee. A person observing her age, behavior, dependence, or living situation might also have noticed warning signs.
The surviving testimony does not reveal what Gore asked, what Epstein said beyond the introduction, or whether anyone discussed Giuffre’s age.
Receipt Four: Giuffre’s Manuscript Places the Encounter in the Caribbean
In her unpublished manuscript, commonly known as The Billionaire’s Playboy Club, Giuffre described meeting Al and Tipper Gore during one of several weekends away in the Caribbean.
She wrote that Gore’s attention to his wife impressed her.
The manuscript helped create the widespread claim that the Gores visited Little St. James.
That conclusion is understandable but not conclusive.
The Caribbean contains many islands, resorts, villas, yachts, hotels, and private residences. A Caribbean setting does not automatically mean Little St. James.
Giuffre later qualified her memory of the location.
Receipt Five: Giuffre Could Not Confirm the Location
During her deposition, Giuffre was pressed on whether the Gore meeting occurred on Epstein’s island.
She said it could have been the island, but she could be mistaken. She said it could have been New York and declined to commit herself to Little St. James as the definite location.
This qualification is critical.
The accurate statement is not:
Al Gore visited Epstein’s island.
The accurate statement is:
Giuffre remembered meeting Al and Tipper Gore once at a dinner connected in her memory to Epstein’s social environment, but she could not reliably identify whether it happened on Little St. James or in New York.
Receipt Six: Giuffre Did Not Accuse Gore of Sexual Activity
Giuffre was directly asked whether Gore was a witness to the sexual abuse of minors.
She said she had met him only once and could not say that he was.
She did not allege that Gore:
- Requested a massage
- Touched her
- Had sex with her
- Asked Epstein to supply a woman
- Participated in recruitment
- Paid her or Epstein
- Entered a sexualized room
- Watched another person abuse her
- Discussed sexual activity
- Knew she was being trafficked
This is not merely a case in which a survivor mentioned a name without elaboration. Giuffre was asked about Gore’s possible involvement and declined to assign misconduct to him.
Receipt Seven: Giuffre Did Not Accuse Tipper Gore
Giuffre was also asked whether Tipper Gore witnessed sexual abuse.
She said not to her knowledge.
Giuffre explained that Tipper may have observed her in the company of an older man. She did not believe Tipper participated in or knowingly witnessed sexual misconduct.
The distinction matters because social proximity to a teenage trafficking victim does not automatically reveal the victim’s circumstances.
Epstein depended on respectable environments and powerful company to make exploitation appear ordinary.
Receipt Eight: Maxwell Says the Island Visit Never Happened
During her deposition in Giuffre v. Maxwell, Maxwell rejected Giuffre’s island account.
Maxwell first said she did not believe Gore had ever visited the island. When the attorney pressed her for a definitive answer, she stated that Gore never came to Little St. James.
She also said that neither she nor Epstein knew Gore.
Maxwell reasoned that she would have known if Gore visited during the period when she arranged travel to the island.
Her testimony appears in Attachment 1335 1 and is quoted in Forbes’ review of the unsealed records.
How much weight should Maxwell’s denial receive?
Maxwell had direct knowledge of many of Epstein’s travel and social arrangements.
She also had a powerful legal interest in discrediting Giuffre.
A federal jury later convicted Maxwell of helping Epstein recruit and groom underage girls, conduct she had denied.
Her statement is therefore relevant but cannot be accepted without corroboration.
On the narrow issue of whether the Gores visited Little St. James, other evidence supports her denial.
Receipt Nine: Epstein Says He Never Met Gore
Epstein also denied knowing Gore.
In an email discussing Giuffre’s claims, Epstein wrote that he had never met Gore and described stories about Gore and Bill Clinton on the island as fantasy.
ABC News reported the message while reviewing Epstein’s communications concerning Bill Clinton.
Epstein was not a neutral witness. He repeatedly lied about his conduct, wealth, relationships, and abuse.
His denial matters because it aligns with Gore, Maxwell, and the island managers. It conflicts with Giuffre’s memory that Epstein introduced her to the Gores.
Receipt Ten: Little St. James Managers Deny Seeing the Gores
Miles and Cathy Alexander managed Little St. James during much of the period relevant to Giuffre’s account.
Miles served as an island manager. Cathy worked as a house manager.
Cathy Alexander provided a statement saying she never saw Al or Tipper Gore on Little St. James. The denial appears in a House Oversight production indexed as HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_026358.
Reporting about the Alexanders states that both denied that the Gores visited during their years working on the island.
Miles acknowledged knowing that Bill Clinton had traveled on Epstein’s aircraft but maintained that Clinton and the Gores had not visited Little St. James while the Alexanders worked there.
Evidence limits
Island managers were well positioned to recognize prominent guests.
They may not have witnessed every arrival or dinner. Their knowledge was also limited to the years of their employment.
The Alexanders had their own reasons to minimize what occurred under their management. Their statements must be compared with flight logs, staff schedules, photographs, maritime records, and other testimony.
Their denials nevertheless provide independent evidence against a Gore island visit.
Receipt Eleven: Gore Denies Knowing Epstein
A spokesperson for Gore responded after the Giuffre and Maxwell records became public.
The spokesperson said Gore:
- Did not know Epstein
- Had no recollection of meeting him
- Never traveled aboard Epstein’s aircraft
- Never visited Little St. James
- Never visited any Epstein home or property
The response was reported during coverage of the 2024 document release.
The phrase “did not know Epstein” does not necessarily exclude a brief introduction at a crowded dinner. It denies an acquaintance or relationship.
No released flight, email, financial, calendar, or property record has conclusively contradicted Gore’s statement.
The Central Contradiction
The record produces two incompatible narratives.
Giuffre’s memory
Giuffre remembered meeting Al and Tipper Gore once in Epstein’s social environment. She understood Gore to be a friend of Epstein and Maxwell. Epstein introduced her as his travelling masseuse.
The denials
Gore said he did not know Epstein.
Epstein wrote that he had never met Gore.
Maxwell testified that neither she nor Epstein knew Gore.
The island managers denied seeing the Gores on Little St. James.
What may reconcile the accounts
Several possibilities remain:
- Giuffre correctly remembered a brief dinner but overstated the relationship.
- Gore attended an event where Epstein was present without knowing him personally.
- A mutual acquaintance hosted the dinner.
- The meeting occurred in New York rather than on the island.
- Epstein introduced Giuffre while Gore understood him only as another guest.
- Gore met Epstein but did not retain the encounter in memory.
- Giuffre confused Gore with another public figure.
- Epstein, Maxwell, and Gore minimized the relationship.
- The contact entry was created for a proposed meeting that never occurred.
The available evidence cannot conclusively select among these possibilities.
Receipt Twelve: The 2013 Lisa New Email
On October 5, 2013, Harvard professor Lisa New emailed Epstein that John McCain, Tony Kushner, and Al Gore had all “signed on” during the preceding two days.
The exchange appears in EFTA01950256.
A corresponding House Oversight production appears as HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_027038.
The surviving excerpt does not clearly identify what Gore had agreed to join.
It may have concerned a public event, academic project, seminar, media production, charitable initiative, or another program. The complete message chain and attachments are required to identify it.
What this receipt establishes
Lisa New told Epstein that Gore had agreed to participate in something.
What it does not establish
It does not establish:
- That Gore communicated with Epstein
- That Gore knew Epstein was involved
- That Epstein invited Gore
- That Gore attended the activity
- That Epstein funded the activity
- That the activity concerned sex, travel, or trafficking
The email is an investigative lead because it demonstrates that Epstein received information about Gore’s participation in a project. It is not evidence of a direct relationship.
Harvard, Science, and Epstein’s Access Strategy
Epstein cultivated relationships with Harvard professors, scientists, donors, authors, and public intellectuals.
Lisa New was a Harvard professor whose work concerned biology, behavior, literature, and animal cognition. Epstein’s academic relationships allowed him to remain connected to prestigious people and institutions after his 2008 conviction.
Gore’s climate and technology work made him a plausible invitee for academic or public policy events.
The overlap among Epstein, Harvard, Lisa New, and Gore may explain the 2013 message without requiring a personal Gore and Epstein relationship.
The underlying project must still be identified.
Other Gore References in the EFTA Archive
Gore’s name appears in numerous documents, but the references do not all carry the same evidentiary value.
EFTA01123234
EFTA01123234 contains references to Gore and Michael Bloomberg.
The available index does not establish that either man sent or received the document.
EFTA00267556
EFTA00267556 mentions Gore with Kevin Rudd and Bill Gates.
The presence of several famous names may indicate an article, event list, proposal, or discussion by third parties. The document must be read in full before inferring a connection.
EFTA00090348
EFTA00090348 includes Gore among references involving Epstein, Maxwell, and David Mullen.
An extracted entity label is not enough to determine Gore’s role.
EFTA01079203
EFTA01079203 contains Gore’s name within civil litigation material involving Jane Doe witnesses, David Boies, and other public figures.
Its primary significance is that lawyers asked witnesses about Gore.
EFTA00143524
EFTA00143524 includes Gore in a long collection of public names.
A list of names does not establish that every person had the same relationship with Epstein.
EFTA01245118
EFTA01245118 contains Gore among references to other prominent people, including Leslie Wexner and Prince Andrew.
The accessible index does not establish a transaction, meeting, or allegation against Gore.
House Oversight Records That Merely Mention Gore
House Oversight productions contain additional Gore references that are not evidence of a private Epstein relationship.
HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_028957
HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_028957 lists Gore with numerous public officials and prominent people.
The surviving context appears connected to an event or participant list.
HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_031297
HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_031297 concerns a public announcement honoring Gore with a humanitarian tribute.
Its inclusion in a large Epstein production does not mean Epstein selected the award, attended the ceremony, funded it, or communicated with Gore.
Large evidence collections often include newsletters, promotional material, news articles, and forwarded invitations. Each record must be evaluated by authorship and purpose.
The Oregon Massage Allegation Was Not an Epstein Massage
Some material released in the Epstein productions reproduces a newspaper article that discussed an allegation involving Gore and a massage therapist at an Oregon hotel.
The allegation concerned a reported 2006 encounter and became public in 2010. Oregon authorities investigated and did not bring charges.
The incident was not alleged to have been arranged by Epstein or Maxwell.
No verified record establishes that:
- Epstein knew the therapist
- Epstein booked the appointment
- The therapist was part of Epstein’s network
- The hotel was controlled by Epstein
- Giuffre was involved
- The event had any connection to Little St. James
The newspaper layout placed discussion of the unrelated Oregon allegation near Giuffre’s account of meeting the Gores.
That layout has caused the two subjects to be merged online.
Relevant copies appear in House Oversight material indexed as HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_014671 and HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_014808.
They are media clippings, not evidence of an Epstein arranged massage.
No Gore Entry in the Confirmed Flight Logs
No verified flight log reviewed for this article places Al or Tipper Gore aboard Epstein’s aircraft.
Some summaries have listed Gore among people who supposedly flew with Epstein. Those lists appear to confuse:
- People Giuffre remembered meeting
- People named in litigation
- People in Epstein’s contact book
- Actual aircraft passengers
These are separate evidence categories.
A meeting does not prove a flight. A contact entry does not prove travel.
No Confirmed Epstein Property Visit
No independent record reviewed for this article places Gore at:
- Little St. James
- Great St. James
- Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse
- Epstein’s Palm Beach residence
- Zorro Ranch
- Epstein’s Paris apartment
Giuffre’s qualified testimony does not conclusively establish a property visit.
Maxwell, Epstein, Gore, and two island employees denied that Gore visited Little St. James.
No Direct Gore and Epstein Correspondence
No authenticated email or text message directly exchanged between Gore and Epstein was located.
Gore appears in messages sent by other people to Epstein. That is evidence that Epstein received information about him, not that Gore was corresponding with him.
A database may label every message containing “Al Gore” as a Gore email. EpsteinWiki should distinguish:
- Email from Gore
- Email to Gore
- Email copied to Gore
- Email discussing Gore
- News article mentioning Gore
- Event list containing Gore’s name
Only the first three categories would establish direct electronic contact.
None has been confirmed in the reviewed material.
No Financial Relationship Located
No verified financial transaction between Gore and Epstein was located.
No reviewed record establishes that Epstein:
- Donated to Gore’s campaigns
- Invested in a Gore controlled business
- Paid Gore a speaking fee
- Funded the Climate Reality Project
- Purchased services from Gore
- Paid for Gore’s travel
- Donated through an intermediary at Gore’s request
- Managed Gore’s money
- Shared an account or company with him
The 2013 Lisa New email does not identify funding.
No Criminal or Civil Finding Against Gore
Gore has never been charged with participating in Epstein’s trafficking organization.
No civil judgment identified in this review found that Gore abused Giuffre or another survivor.
He was not listed as a person receiving immunity under Epstein’s 2007 non prosecution agreement.
He was not identified as an Epstein employee, recruiter, pilot, attorney, banker, or financial manager.
His name appeared in unsealed litigation because attorneys questioned Giuffre and Maxwell about people Giuffre mentioned.
A name in discovery is not a finding of wrongdoing.
Giuffre’s Account Deserves Careful Treatment
Giuffre’s uncertainty about the location should not be used to dismiss her entire memory.
Trauma, time, repeated travel, similar properties, and a highly controlled life can affect how dates and locations are recalled.
At the same time, survivor centered reporting does not require treating every detail as conclusively proven.
The appropriate approach is to preserve:
- What Giuffre remembered clearly
- What she later qualified
- What other witnesses disputed
- What documents corroborate
- What remains unknown
Giuffre clearly remembered meeting the Gores once.
She clearly remembered their behavior toward each other.
She did not clearly remember the location.
She did not accuse them of abuse.
What the Gore Encounter Reveals About Epstein
Even if the dinner was entirely innocent, the encounter illustrates how Epstein concealed exploitation in prestigious company.
Giuffre could be presented as an employee while attending dinners with political leaders, celebrities, scientists, and wealthy executives.
Those encounters performed reputational work for Epstein.
A guest seeing a former vice president at dinner might assume Epstein had been accepted by trustworthy institutions.
Another guest seeing Giuffre described as an employee might assume her presence was legitimate.
Each person’s apparent respectability reinforced the appearance of the others.
That mechanism could function even when individual guests knew nothing about the abuse.

Evidence Assessment
The Al Gore record is neither an empty name drop nor evidence of criminal conduct.
Giuffre remembered meeting Al and Tipper Gore once while Epstein was presenting her to powerful people as his travelling masseuse. She did not accuse either of sexual activity and could not identify them as knowing witnesses to abuse.
Her uncertainty about the location prevents EpsteinWiki from stating that the Gores visited Little St. James.
The contact book entry and Lisa New email justify additional investigation. They do not establish a friendship.
The record supports a careful conclusion:
Virginia Giuffre remembered meeting Al and Tipper Gore at one dinner within Jeffrey Epstein’s social world. She described them favorably and accused neither of misconduct. Gore denied knowing Epstein, while Epstein, Maxwell, and Little St. James employees denied that Gore visited the island. No flight, property, financial, email, criminal, or judicial record presently connects Gore to Epstein’s trafficking operation. The location and circumstances of the dinner remain unresolved.
